TODAY'S QUOTE

"Make "I can" an integral part of your vocabulary. Whenever you're
tempted to say "I can't," stop, take a deep breath, and imagine what would
happen if you gave it your all.

I Am The New Year

I am the new year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.

I am your next chance at the art of living.

I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned
about life during the last twelve months.

All that you sought and didn't find is hidden in me,
waiting for you to search it out with more determination.

All the good that you tried for and didn't achieve is mine
to grant when you have fewer conflicting desires.

All that you dreamed but didn't dare to do,
all that you hoped but did not will,
all the faith that you claimed but did not have -
these slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by
the touch of a strong purpose.

I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance
to Him who said, "Behold, I make all things new."

I am the new year.

Today I Will...

TODAY I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK:
If someone is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind... I will not respond in a like manner.

TODAY I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY "ENEMY":
If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask GOD to bless that individual. I understand the "enemy" could be a family member, neighbor, co-worker or stranger.

TODAY I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY:
I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not spread gossip.

TODAY I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE:
I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

TODAY I WILL FORGIVE:
I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way.

TODAY I WILL DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE, BUT I WILL DO IT SECRETLY:
I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.

TODAY I WILL TREAT OTHERS THE WAY I WISH TO BE TREATED:
I will practice the golden rule -- do unto others as you would have them do unto you -- with everyone I encounter.

TODAY I WILL RAISE THE SPIRITS OF SOMEONE WHO IS DISCOURAGED:
My smile, my words, my expression of support, can make the difference to someone who is wrestling with life.

TODAY I WILL NURTURE MY BODY:
I will eat less; I will eat only healthy foods. I will thank GOD for my body.

TODAY I WILL GROW SPIRITUALLY:
I will spend a little more time in prayer today: I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational today; I will find a quiet place at some point during this day and listen to GOD's voice.

TODAY'S QUOTE

"Love is a potent mood changer, but it isn't meant to be a drug. If you
think you might be jumping from crush to crush to ignore an underlying
emotional problem, try counseling instead."

A HIGHER LOVE (at the wedding reception)

Since it seems nothing could keep us apart,
And we were wooed and won and wed,
here we are together—two different and imperfect souls—with good intentions
and we agreed to make our lives one and to love and stay in love.
But how are we to do that when the world
utter all these exhalations of love and what love ought to be and do?

I’d like to think our love is more than the old puppy love—two
cute puppies frolicking and playing with each other’s emotion.
I’d like to think that we are more like two loyal watchdogs,
looking out for the good of each other.

I’d like to think our love is more than a mere crush
As if I’m a crushed flower—pressed—that my mate walked upon.
I’d like to think our love is that beautiful freshly-bloomed flower,
made anew day after day and adorning our special God-given charge.

I‘d like to think our love is more than love is blind,
As if left to the cruelty of chance, as if I’m some strange
winged-creature that flies around
aimlessly then pitching on something, calling it love,
then spreading its wings and going off again
into the black night and leaving a hurt heart.
I’d like to think our love is a result of something
wonderful that was given careful calculation,
was meditated on, and with no uncertainty trailing us.

I’d like to think our love is more than merely falling in love
As if I’m falling into some kind of misery, restlessness, and despair.
I’d like to think I’ve been lifted up in love with you,
a love higher, loftier, and filled with endless possibilities, since love never ends.

I’d like to think our love is no mere passion,
like something sudden, unexpected, wild, restless,
untrained and unrestrained, gathering with great intensity
one minute and, then, like a deflated balloon the love-air is gone
with nothing remaining to take us through the stormy times.
I’d love to think our love took its time coming, growing
with knowledge and maturity.

So, I’d like to think our love has surpassed the old puppy love,
the old crush, the love is blind, the falling in love, the passion.
I’d like to think our love is a book of words put into practice—honor, respect, endurance,
longsuffering, kindness, mildness, forgiveness, unselfishness.
I’d like to think our love can be as constant and long-lasting as the planets and constellations
I’d like to think our love is wide so that even when we are alone—just the two of us,
folded in our love—that we are never quite alone, but that our hearts are reaching out and touching the hearts of others who love the God that we love, enwrapping us in our world-wide brotherhood.
I’d like to see our love strong and powerful, enduring all things,
a love strong enough to leave the baggage of our past behind and our two failings
becoming a firm wall, two weaknesses formed into a strength
and joined by the source of unlimited strength—Jehovah God.
I’d like to see our love grow into something to defy this world, the one passing away
with its false promises and dreams, and taking us hand in hand
through this world’s worst war—Armageddon—and into the New World.
I’d like to see us love and live and live and love, adding years of love
till we attain to perfection in Perfect Paradise where love’s power cannot be harnessed,
where you and I will sit side by side as our Great God unravel more
of this extraordinary thing called love—one of his perfect attributes.
