Hello,

I am tracing the Dillon family tree and thought I would post something here in the hope of some help.

My Great Grandfather was Albert Dillon.

I have found out the names of his brother Norman and sister Doris.

I also know there is a link to the Parchment and Ebanks name but that is as far as I can go without more information.

I know there are many Dillons about in Treasure Beach as well as the US and UK.

Any help or scanned pictures would be greatly appreciated!

I went to school with a Dillon from Santa Cruz but never heard of anyone with that name in Treasure Beach. You may be referring to Dillion or DeLeon. There are two such families in Great Bay and I am guessing your great grandfather was DeLeon. I am not sure what the family connections are, or if there was a divergence in spelling at some point.

Hi goofie,

YES!

you are absolutely right, my finger probably slipped is all.

I can confirm that I am related to Dillion/De leon.

From a picture, I can see that Great Grandfather Albert and his sister Doris were white, and I have some fair skinned cousins, some with freckles and red hair.

To John D

I am a relative and would like to inform you that Albert and Doris were not 'white' . They do look like they were light skinned or mixed, but certainly not all white.

To John D

My Grand Mother's maiden name was Doris DeLeon and she had a brother name Albert, and they were certainly not white.
She was dark skinned with long straight black hair, When she sit she sit on her hair.
If you compare them to Tiano Indian or (Arawak) then I think you would be on the right tract. I can give you a whole line of DeLeons but not on this net. as I might not be permitted to.

From what I know of the family JohnD, Maas Albert wife's name was Florence Parchment. She was also from Great Bay. I couldn't tell you anything about a connection to the Ebanks except that they are a prominent family in the district as well. Good luck in your search.

Hi Bowl! That's very interesting to read. My assumption was based on the only (very old) picture I have of Albert and Florence.

Please get in touch via my email.

I am meeting grand children of Uncle Norman next month for the first time and will be able to find out a bit more about the family/hopefully be able to trace the family back a bit more.

Goofy- you refered to Albert as Maas- what does that mean/where did that term come from?

John

Maas is a term of respect JohnD. I assume its short for mister or perhaps master (a vestige of a bygone era). If memory serves me right, Maas Norman's wife Miss Norma was Ebanks herself.

Hail up Bro, What you are doing is great and has my full support. I too am tracing my roots, by interviewing the old people in Plains of good old St. Bess. One of the challenges I am facing is sometimes people are known by one name all their lives and no-one knows their correct name. I am one of the Parchments from Treasure Beach/Fort Charles Beach, St. Elizabeth My mother was Lucille Watson Parchment and my Father Landrey Parchment. My grandmother was Frances Foster Parchment. This is such a large family. Wishing you luck in your search. Let's keep in touch.

John

Albert DeLeon's father was born William Benjamin Ebanks and died in 1929. Williams father was Albert DeLeon Ebanks who was born on 22 April 1828 and he came from Flagaman https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-14056-43857-9

William is the one who changed the family name from Ebanks to DeLeon.

I have the family tree on record

Ask where the Jewish graves above Alligator Pond are. DeLeons are among the gravestones.

Goofy!

Relative!

David Deleon-Powell!

Anyone else!

I am planning a trip to Jamaica for next year to do some fact finding/family tree searching and I need more information.

Goofy/David, please can you email me as you have both said you have the entire family tree.

I know there are probably tens or even hundreds of Deleons in Jamaica, England and the US and I'm not looking to just turn up on peoples doorsteps, I'm more interested in tracing the family from the 1950's and before.

So far I know my family tree from:

My Mother

Grandmother (and her brothers and sisters)

Great Grandfather (Albert Deleon) Great GrandUncle and Aunt (Norman & Doris)

Great Great Grandfather (William Benjamin Ebanks) and brother Herburt DeLeon (had 3 more brothers)

Great Great Great Grandfather (Albert Deloen Ebanks)(- Wife Frances Ann Ebank)

Can anyone help me fill in the gaps?
