It is with profound sadness that I learned of the death of Alwyn Hamilton(Wino) as he was affectionately called. He really is too young to be gone already. He was dearly loved by the entire Hamilton family, all of whom he adored, respected, and they cherished him for his kind, gentle, generous characte.Treasure Beach has lost an honest, trustworthy mechanic who cannot be easily replaced.
I share the grief of my cousins his aunts Sylvia, Ditty, Ellen,Terese, and his dad Volney and his many cousins.
Rest in peace Wino, you were truly a decent man who always went beyond yourself to assist in any way that you could. It is your ability to laugh and love that made you truly special. Indeed, Treasure Beach will miss you.
May God comfort his family and friends as they cope with his death. It is true what they say...the good die young.
my condolences to the Hamilton family,so sorry to hear of whino death he was a very nice person. may his soul rest in peace.
IT IS WITH HEART FELT GRIEF I WRITE THIS NOTE TO THE HAMILTON FAMILY:
ALWIN WAS A VALUABLE MEMBER OF THE TREASURE BEACH COMMUNITY. IT IS SO SAD HE HAS TO LEAVE SO EARLY.
SUCH A HUMBLE MAN AND HARD WORKING INDIVIDUAL. MY PARENTS SPEAK HIGHLY OF HIM AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY. ESPECIALLY, MY FATHER... HE PROBABLY FIXED SOMETHING ON ALL HIS VEHICLES. HE IS SURELY MISSED WITHOUT A DOUBT.
TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS, IT SEEM YOUR WORLD IS ENDING BUT IT IS REALLY JUST ANOTHER LEG OF THE JOURNEY. GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU THROUGHOUT THIS PAINFUL TIME. TRUST IN HIM AND YOU WILL OVERCOME THE HEARTBREAK OF LOOSING YOUR LOVED ONE.
I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Wyno. I agree 100% with Crystal in saying Treasure Beach has indeed lost a valuable and dearly loved member of this community.
He was a mechanic to many of us but much more than this he was a friend. One didn't just drop off their vehicle at his workshop and be on their way. You would stay, have a chat about weather, life, politics, world events, whatever.
Wyno taught me a great deal about Jamaica and her culture. I considered him a friend and share in the grief the entire community feels. You could see the sadness and shock throughout Treasure Beach yesterday as word spread.
Wyno's family and this community have suffered a great loss. But let us never forget the example he gave us by the selfless life he lead, always ready to help out, going above and beyond so often, being on call for anyone in need 24/7. He was a great family man and was so very proud of his children. An exemplary member of the community and dearly loved. May we remember his example and live our lives accordingly.
Wyno you will be sorely missed.
Hearing about this yesterday left us in disbelief. A very good man has been taken from all of us--his family, his friends, and the community--so unexpectedly.
Rest in peace, Wyno.
My profound condolences to Hamilton and Berlin families and the entire community on the great loss of one of our beloved son of the soil, cannot be replaced. He will be sorely missed and will not be forgotten. The laughter, the jokes his kindness my God only you know best my heart is heavy, no more Wino rest in peace my friend. Lets us all reflect on the good memories because there is a lot . I hope and pray and I know God will give the entire families the strength and courage to go through this time of mourning.
It is with a hevy heart that I write condolence to the entire Hamilton family on the passing of Alwin.My early days in Treasure Beach was just across the road from Miss Larry's as both verandas faced each other. I fondly recall;
> Our days at Sandy Bank Infant & Primary School
> Playing Marbles,Playing cricket in the grass pease
> making and racing make shift boats during the heavy rains
> the dandy shandy and jacks games over miss Larry with all his cousins and my siblings.
I could list many more fond childhood memories but most of all I remember the love and closeness of his entire family.Your loss is heartfelt and I encourage you all to hold his memory close. Treasure Beach has lost another 'Treasure'. May his soul rest in peace.
Wino you surely will be missed. May your soul rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy is extended Zena, the Hamilton and Berlin families and friends on the passing of Alwyn he will be missed.
My sincere condolences to the entire Hamilton & Belin family. I know this is a very difficult time for you all.
May the good lord give you all the strength to get through as you mourn your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
RIP Wino.
Zena on behalf of the entire Bromfield we would like to send our Deepest Sympathy to you and the rest of family on the passing of your husband Alwin .He was a caring , kind hearted person and always willing to help in time of need.He will be greatly miss as a neighbour. Our prayers are with you always.
Noone had to wonder what attracted Wyno to his line of work as a mechanic...a realistic honesty in fixing vehicles, finding parts, wherever the adventure took him, diagnosing symptoms, soothing anxieties, and in a mechanical doctor's bedside manner, following up on the Repair whenever your paths would cross. My father would call that "lubricating the hinges (or is that the pistons) of friendship."
We'll always be able to share an image of the small world that was created around the Hamilton's yard...a relatively unhurried scene, with his aunts, sweet sisters-in the closest of bonds-watchful on the veranda, children being cared for, car hoods open to problems and undercarriages being inspected, and always the ebullient, welcoming, humble yet confident spirit of Wyno.
What an open, big-hearted yard, ready to listen to troubles or devise solutions, logical and mystical!
Let me not forget just one Wyno project...a foundling from years past.
It was my father's Datsun Sedan, usually parked in Kingston, at a friend's business, supposedly kept under wraps for family use during return visits. For some strange reason, the tachometer barely showed a change in mileage driven, but parts kept wearing out, or radiators were springing leaks.
Duppies act within strange appearances.
Thanks Wyno for, smilingly, keeping up the pretense that the car wasn't aging that much by the application of your expert, practical, resourceful skills, and all the invitations to smooth runnings that followed.
Our sorrowful condolences to Wyno's wife, Zena, his devoted children who were his pride & joy, the Berlin's, his "crews" (shout-out to John), and in pained sharing with the Hamilton sisters, after so-soon another devastating loss, have grown with and watched over a significant part of this community as it congeals into a more gentle, loving purposeful organism to which Wyno has blessedly contributed.
Peace of mind produces right values, right values produce right thoughts. Right thoughts produce right actions and right actions produce Work which will be a material reflection for others to see of the serenity at the center of it all...
The real cycle you're working on is a cycle called yourself...
The place to improve the world is first in one's own heart and head and hands, and then Work outward from there.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Hamilton family for the passing of wino. He was a wonderful person that tried to do everything he could to help people In every situation. I know he's going to be missed by many many people especially his family and close friends but also people across St Elizabeth who knew and respected him.we were deeply saddened to learn of his passing. We know what the entire family is going through. May his soul rest in peace
I remember al-wynn as young boys growing up in Treasure Beach.Going to Sandy bank primary school. We were not in the same class. He was about 2 Years my senior. He was a very nice person to social-ized with. I leave the community a little while back,so i honestly were not keeping up-dated with every individual.
I do not remember ever hearing a bad/negative word against Al-wynn. He carried HIS REPUTATION with respect and dignity.
I remember some of his fellow-school mates, called him shorty. (some of them were taller and Slender framed in their younger days.) I had to ASK a second times, who died, when i first heard?
Al-wynn will be sadly missed, but GREATLY REMEMBERED:
I say to the Hamilton's family, and ALL others con-nected, KEEP the FAITH and YOUR CHIN UP-WARD.
Al-WYNN-(shorty)- i hope more people like YOU will be my neigh-bor: REST IN PEACE.....
Our sincere condolences to the Hamilton and Berlin family during this time of bereavement. It is really sad to see Mass Wino go, but God knows best. Keep the faith and cherish those precious memories of him as you grieve.
Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.
We share the grief as Mass Wino treated us like family, he will be missed. May his soul RIP

My deepest sympathy goes out to Wino family and friends he will be sadly miss.gone too soon but wont be forgotten.
My sincere condolence to the Hamilton's family upon the passing of Alwyn, my heart truly goes out to his wife, kids and sister Doreen.
Be strong god bless.
I am totally shocked. I spoke to him a week ago from Toronto, I asked him to do a job on a vehicle for me before I return, he told me to send it in now, so that he would have enough time to go through it thoroughly.
We did not know that there was never going to be enough time to do anything. Gone too soon my friend and neighbor. Gone too soon. May your soul rest in peace.
Alwin was exceptional,he had a permanent smile. Which you know that was from deep within.
Keep on smiling Alwin .We know heaven is happy to have you.
My cousin, my friend, my confidant, Alwyn. It is true when they say the good die young and the favorites go first. I am sure I speak for most, if not all my cousins when I say Alwyn was indeed our favorite. Alwyn had all the traits of a decent human being; loving, caring, honest and dependable to name a few. He was always the one we called on when we had no idea how to handle life’s challenges……….he always had the solution. He never complained when we called upon him; he always had a cheerful spirit, and he always came through for us.
I am deeply saddened and heart-broken, and so is the entire family. I am somewhat comforted by the fact that I had the pleasure of knowing this wonderful human being and by the fact that I will see him again when this wicked system comes to an end and God puts an end to all the heartaches and pain. We are all heart-broken but all we can do for now is comfort each other, reach out as he would and live for the day when we welcome Alwyn and our love ones who are waiting to hear the Master’s voice to “come forth.”
To his wife Zena, children Nicole and Aljay, father Uncle Volney, sisters Ursie, Doreen, and brother Dickie; we are all grieving with you and you are in our thoughts and prayers, and I love you all very much. May God bless and keep you all………….take hope in the resurrection!!
Our deepest sympathy to the Hamilton family on your loss.

Another link is gone out of the family chain, but thank God that we have a hope to see our loved ones again! God knows it's hard to bear but he said he will never leave us or forsake us and he will comfort us in our time of sorrows.
Wino was an expert in his field of work and has never hesitated to help me out when I had issues with my car. Over the years I saw him as a tower of strength in the family and he will always live in our hearts. To Zena, Nicky, Aljay, my family (Hamilton's), friends, clients and the community -take comfort in God's love.
My condolence to the Hamilton family during this difficult time. RIP Wyno you will be missed.
We would like express our deepest sympathy to the Hamilton and Berlin family, our prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Hilma and Richard Clarke
Not every sky will be blue and not every day is springtime. So on the spiritual path a person learns to find this kind of happiness without needing nice things to happen on the outside. Rather, you find happiness by being who you really are. This isn't mystical. Young children are happy being who they are. The trick is to regain such a state when you are grown and have seen the light and dark sides of life.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my best friend in the final two years of Secondary school.Back then we shared our joys, our pains, our resources and our dreams and vowed to be always there for each other. Unfortunately dreams do not always come through and as we grew into adulthood with all it's resposibilities and challenges we gradually drifted apart. I migrated from the community but over the years whenever I visited and see him we would exchange pleasantries. He will be sorely missed. May his family and friends find comfort in the wonderful memories and legagy that he has left behind.
My uncle, "my father", my very best friend, there are not enough words to describe him. I will never forget him, how can I,when he was always there to tell me the right from wrong. He rubbed my hand that Sunday evening and only if I had known it was goodbye I would have hugged him so tight. My tears will always be as he will always be in my memories. My kids will miss as he always gave them some of his time after work, in playing with them.
He is gone but he will never be forgotten.

Today is the day to say our final goodbye...But we know heaven's gate is open wide for you.
If only there were many more Whyno this world would be a better place. Keep on smiling.
Any photos of the vigil that was held for Wino on Friday night
I had not seen Alwin in many, many moons, but I've always remembered him as a really sweet person. May his soul rest in peace. To his family I say, Right now it may seem like you'll never get over this; and you never will. But you will learn to live with it as the pain of loss slowly becomes less searing, the tears less frequent and the happy memories comfort your hearts. His children will grow up hearing good things about their dad, and that is a priceless gift everyone who knew and loved Alwin can give them.
As for those of us who remain, let us strive to live a life of readiness. At any moment any one of us can be called away as well.
May Alwin's dear soul rest in peace; and may his family find comfort in wonderful memories of him.
What a shock to learn of Alwyn's passing. I was so happy to see him on my visit to TB along with my husband and one of my sisters Cynthia just about two weeks before his passing.

Doreen please stay strong and I know your faith in God will sustain you all, through this difficult time.

He was one popular guy and he will be sorely missed by all motorists in the area.
I know that his relatives will miss him .
Thank-you Alwyn, I was in town and it was difficult for this american gal to keep her vehicles running and legal. Well they always weren't legal but they were always running and Jamaican road worthy, Thank-you same way Alwyn, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Our condolences to the Hamilton Family, really sorry for your loss.
Zena,
