He will be sorely missed in the community that he helped to advance

There was no stronger community man than Desmond.
He was "Mr. Community Tourism", but he did not focus on the community just for the tourists. He felt that if we made it good enough for ourselves then the visitors would also find it attractive enough to come and enjoy it.
I still remember a celebration he organised at Calabash Bay. He brought down such media personalities as Fae Ellington and Allan Magnus for the occasion. That was a rare sight back then in Treasure Beach. Not like today when members of the media are tripping over each other to come down here to cover the many events that are put on these days, such as the Calabash literary festival and the triathalon.
If we take the time to reflect, however, we will realise that Desmond was a real pioneer.

Mr. Henry was truely committed to tourism promoting Jamaica for the whole Jamaica abroad in the 1970's. He demonstrated by example that he was proud of his community and worked for the meaningful development and preservation of the product.

The last time I saw that outstanding son of the soil was in the mid 90's having a bowl of pumpkin soup at Jakes one evening.Let everyone do their part to continue his work.
