How do you view the changes that have occured for the most part in the way funerals/Set Ups are done nowadays?
It makes me shudder to think I may not be able to afford a conventional package. What a lalla with all the expensive frill and tings.
I think it has become a "who can throw the biggest party" event. However, more power to those who choose to be in the rat race.
Well said Alice. You could not have said it better. Wake up Jamaica we are living in hard times. God Bless.
I believe sometimes when a person dies, the family puts out everything that they can ill afford and sometimes it's in contrast to when the person was alive; that is in terms of how much money is spent etc.
Solomon said 'all is vanity and vexation of spirit' - totally unecessary and showing off by the family.
Please see article in the jamaican gleaner, so relevant to this topic.

I would love these songs to be played at my funeral and just put me in the ground afterwards. I just want soulful music and no set-up and 'bling-bling'. What a waste! I like to have the churching and everything but even that could be optional because the entire service could be done at home. I hope you can listen to these.

Conscious One, thanks for posting those songs. You put me on a spiritual high. I am truly blessed.I share your sentiments. I would love those 2 songs to be played at my funeral also. Do you know where I can get those 2 CDs to buy? Kindly post the information. Oh such an inspiration. May God bless you.
The first song is :-
Vince Gill - Go rest high on that Mountain
The next is Dolly Parton - Eagle When She Flies
To New York : You can buy them online or any music store that sells country music.
Thanks for sharing the same taste. I believe we have to plan for death as well as we do for life. We should also be conservative both in life and death, and not overdo in death as a lot of people tend to do. This is unnecessary. I believe in being practical and realistic. Of course I believe in enjoying life as Mr. Solomon in the good book reminds us!
