Although I didn't grow up in Treasure Beach, I feel connected to the place because of the trip that I made with my friends from UVA this past spring. I remember the time I spent at school on those hot days sitting on the floor with my sixth grade students coloring and talking. At lunch, everyone would race outside to get a ring game or a football match started. I miss the kids' smiles, their energy, kindness and innocence. My thoughts are with the Sandy Bank students and their families during this time of hardship.
