I got an email today from Jamlink@gmail.com that I'd like to pass along to the community at large. There are links for more information towards the bottom.

Dear Fellow Jamaicans:

Jamlink, in accordance with its efforts to promote cohesive philanthropy in Jamaica, is pleased to introduce the Blue Mountain Project, a non profit organization that has it’s 501c3 in the United States and is registered in Jamaica.

In an effort to promote sustainable community development, the Blue Mountain Project (BMP) is committed to enriching the lives of rural Jamaican communities by providing assistance with basic healthcare, educational resources, and training opportunities. Ways that the BMP accomplishes this mission includes:

- Hagley Gap Health Clinic: Free health services such as check-ups, wound cleanings, blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, mental health counseling and health education.
- Fun Camp: Free educational camp that expands the minds of the children in Blue Mountains. A free hot lunch is provided.
- Nutrition for Life: A food commodities program which provides basic staples like rice, beans and milk powder at no cost.
- Service Learning Training Program: A training program giving locals the opportunities to learn about tourism industry first hand by coordinating the various aspects of the Service Learning Program for the first world volunteers.

Just a few ways to get involved with the Blue Mountain Project:

- Adopt a School Program needs first world classrooms to participate in pen pal relationship with children in Jamaica.
- The new community resource center and library needs books and other educational materials.
- Community Volunteers, medical (such as general practitioners, dentist and pediatric), Educational (teachers workshops) to participate in the Service Learning Program
- Adopt a Wall in the clinic to help provide privacy for patients. It costs $250 USD to erect a wall with a plaque inscribed with the donor’s name.
- Benefit Album is currently seeking artists and producers to finish this dynamic fundraising project.
- Water testing needs to happen in order to install the proper water filtration system. Most people in this area wash their clothing, bathe and drink from the river.
- The Board of Directors has openings for professional that are interested in furthering the mission.
- Buy a 2007 BMP calendar from www.lulu.com/fundraisingBMP. This calendar features artistic photos of the people and places in Jamaica. 100% of the profits will support the organization.

If you would like to learn more about the Blue Mountain Project please visit the website at www.BlueMountainProject.org . You will find a video, a wide range of photos and opportunity to sign up for the monthly newsletter.

Thank you in advance for your interest and support.

Respectfully submitted by Jamlink on behalf of:

Great to hear, Jan.

If/when you (or anyone) makes contact, if you get a chance tell them you read about the project on TBNet. Hopefully that could lead to some future hookups that will help everyone.
