Wouldn't it make sense to go to T.B. first and Mandeville from Treasure Beach? The main highways run along the coast, not the interior. If you look at a map of Jamaica it makes more sense or you will be taking roads that are not as developed in the interior for most of your drive. Mandeville is only about an hour from Treasure Beach.

O.K. Will u kindly help me out with directions, if u can????
I do not mind going local and taking the scenic route, maybe stop along the way for some fruits or fish and bammy or something.
Please just help me out with some directions to Mandeville.

Going to Mandeville first would be out of the way.

There are driving directions in the Treasure Beach FAQ section of this site.

I think the simplest deviation is to replace the text after Once in Black River take a left at the one-way street and then take the first right. You will wind past the market. Stay to the right and eventually come to another T. Take the left and go over the bridge.

with

Stay on this road. It will take you through South Field, then Junction

From there, use the directions (in reverse) from the FAQ on driving from Kingston to Treasure Beach:

Stay on the highway past Mandeville heading down Spur Tree Hill. When you reach Gutters there will be a Texaco Station on the right and a turn to Junction, St. Elizabeth on your left. Take that left (it is well marked with signs). Follow that road for a few miles. You will go under a bridge (train tracks), shortly after look for the sign for Alpart on your left indicating the turn on your right. Take that right heading towards Alpart. When you come to the T in the road take a left. Drive past Alpart and into the district of Nain. You will come to an intersection. Just drive straight through the crossroads and continue heading towards the town of Junction.

Sorry that's convoluted. Hopefully someone can post better directions for the Junction to Mandeville route.

BLACK RIVER TO MANDEVILLE

from black river you can also go to SANTA CRUZ
drive straight thru the town towards Goshen it is
a straight road to SPUR TREE HILL then look for
the mandeville signs ( the route is not as scenic as the other but it might be a litte easier)

MANDEVILLE TO TB
WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO TB USE THE ROUTE TB.NET
POSTED GOING TO SANTA CRUZ IS OUT OF THE WAY,IT IS NOT AS DIFFICULT AS IT LOOKS AND IT HAS SOME
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS. GOOD LUCK

Kizzy, if you want to take the northern route from Mo Bay to Mandeville, drive east on the A1 along the north coast to Discovery Bay and take the B3 south through Brownstown, and Alexandria to Spauldings where you catch the road to Mandeville. It could take four or five hours depending on stops, but it's a beautiful road. Be sure to get a good road map before leaving Montego Bay. Good luck and safe travel.

That last route (North Coast and crossing the mountains)is very tricky and dangerous if you are not used to the roads - lots of hairline curves and deep gullys. If you are not accustomed to the roads I would not take that route - especially if it is rainy weather.

WOW! Somebody please give me a hire car name and number, and approximately how much it will cost so I can relax and drive with somebody who know the roads. When I reach my destination, I will try and get help in getting a car. The directions sure sound complicated to me. Someone who wouldn't mind stoping along the roadside for fruits and a cold Red Stripe.

Thanx.

Kizzy:

There are several cars for hire, but Treasure Tours is always a good option. Contact them at treasuretours@cwjamaica.com or 1.876.965.0126

Kizzy... it IS complicated, and hiring a driver is a very good idea especially if you don't know the roads or the routes. From Mo Bay to Treasure Beach the cost is approximately $120-140.00 US$. For the extra gas and distance to Mandeville you will likely need a little more. I know it sounds expensive, but you need to remember that it will be the gas (expensive in Jamaica) and the better part of a day for the driver. T.B to Mo Bay, time waiting for your flight, and about 4-5 hours (including stops like you requested) to Mandeville and then back to where they came from in the first place. Definitely the better way to go, and Treasure Tours is always a very reliable crew of drivers. After you are done in Mandeville, you will be centrally located enough to use route taxis to get back down to T.B (or anywhere else) for reasonable to cheap rates.

I'd definitely get a map, I wouldn't drive in JA without one.

That + asking folks along the way gets us where we need to go :-)
