Why are rants about angels allowed on this website? What's next? Astrology? {edited by TBNet} What astrology aficianados don't know about, or refuse to recognize, is that every 26,000 years, the earthy wobble a bit, thus putting your "sign" somewhere else in the sky.

Someone just e-mailed me this story and indeed, I consider this an angelic action.

Potato Chips

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him some chips. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

His smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted!
They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave him his biggest smile ever..

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?"
He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? He's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, "dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally!

Huh: I spent a lot of time composing a message for this thread. In it, among other things, I ask why we can't move on Tarot card readings, palm readings, and seances. Thanks, huh, for reminding me about numerology! But for reasons we may not know, the webmaster chose not to run that message.

If I tell you my "sign," that might indicate that I believe [edited by TBNet], which I most emphatically do not. Are you aware of the earth's wobble every 26,000 years, which nullifies everyone's notion of what his "sign" is?

I love it when a person who, engaged in conversation with you, out of the blue asks, for instance, "Are you a Leo?" and then proceeds to tell you that something you said or did made him conclude that. If it turns out [edited by TBNet] you tell the person you ARE a Leo, the response is usually, "Hah! I thought so." But what that means is that he had a one-in-twelve chance of guessing right. If you say, "Nope, not a Leo," it doesn't seem to phase him a bit.

Well, as they say, It's no laughing matter, but no matter if you laugh. Angels, astrology; why stop there? May we move on to Tarot card readings, palm readings, seances? There's no end to the fun we could have! Oh, and let's not forget that Nancy Reagan consulted an astrologer.

And woe unto me, the Webmaster censored completely my followup to my already-edited Sept 5 post.

I just don't dig it. Is there something about this site that doesn't permit unfettered, civil, rational discussion or comments, but allows Biblical quotations, and mentions of angels and astrology? Is plain-speaking a bad thing, or do we always have to fish around ad nauseum, playing a guessing game, struggling to find just the acceptable way to say what we think?

And Astro: I am a tiny bit wary, wondering if, since you call yourself Astro, that you're a big believer in astrology?

Those who ascribe meaning to astrology might consider [edited by TBNet] that stars light years away have some influence on their personality, or their actions. Perhaps, in a spirit of open-mindedness, they might want to read this, below.

Over thousands of years, each Zodiac constellations has a period when the Sun rises in it at the vernal equinox. In 23,000 years time, the Sun will complete a full circuit across the Zodiac to rise in Aries at the time of the vernal equinox. A Platonic year ends, a new one begins.
