We tried last year to walk from Cacona in Calabash to Great Bay to visit the sister of an email friend. We dead ended at the American school. We tried various cow paths but they all lead nowhere. How do we get to Great Bay? Do we have to take the road near the ice factory to skirt around the big pond? If yes, that might be quite a trek or isn't it too bad? I think we need to get to Blue Marlin as our final destination. We coming to town Feb. 10th and we're looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

Before you reach the school, on the road that leads to the gates of the school you will see a path on your left. Follow this path which has a "climb over" shortly after you enter it.

Take this path east, staying paralell to the sea.

It will dead end at a gate at Viking's House, where you can catch onto "Tides Reach Lane" a gravel road.
Take this road until it ends- on the Great Bay main road. Hang a right, Blue Marlin will be on your right after another 1/4 mile.

It sounds more complicated than it is, once you've done it, its very simple.

Or follow the path as suggested above but walk down the inner side wall of Tranquilty Bay. There is no path but it is walkable.

It takes you right to the coast itself and a big burnt out tree. From there walk the coast right to Great Bay beach. It's a beautiful walk.

We debated walking along the water's edge but saw a fence and we were afraid they'd throw us in the school! LOL Thanks all.
