I will be visiting (my first time) your part of the world starting this Saturday. I am really looking forward to this journey.I have become an avid reader of this forum and am impressed with the sense of community expressed here. I know a number of families have suffered with the recent flooding. I would be delighted to bring some of my daughter's (6 years old) gently worn clothing if it would help out some of those in need. Is there a community organization that accepts donations like this ? Also, is there a need for school supplies or children's books?
Rebecca and the Women's group always collect toys for the Children's annual Christmas Party. She can also help you by delivering school supplies, and dispersing clothes. All will be greatly appreciated for sure.
The Treasure Beach Women's Group accepts clothing which they resell in their thrift shop.
The money generated benefits their projects and those of us in the community that shop there get some great deals on clothing for our kids.
Sandy Bank Primary will gladly accept your donations of supplies and books for the library.
They also would love volunteers to spend time reading one on one with some of the children who are reading behind grade level.
Your villa or guesthouse should be able to link you up with the school and show you where the Women's Group is located.
THANKS for all the great info!! My bags are packed....
Another T.B. School that accepts donations is God's School.
After our visit to T.B. we found that any type of clothing items would be greatly appreciated. We left several pairs of shoes and some clothes with our housekeeper to distribute to those in need. Keep in mind the needs are basic.
You will fall in love with Treasure Beach and it's residents. We did!!!
