Hi,

We are planning a trip to TB for the first time in November with some friends. They want to stay at an all inclusive and we want to either rent villa or stay in somewhere like Jakes.

Can anyone tell me where Sandals is in relation to Jakes? How close is it? Is it within walking distance or is it a car journey?

Does anyone know of a map of all the accomodations in TB? I have looked at the maps on this site but somewhere I have seen a map that showed all the villas and places to stay.

Also is it possible to rent bicycles in TB?

Thanks for any help!

Fortunately, Sandals is a looooong way away from Jakes, and all of Treasure Beach for that matter. Its located in White House, which takes about an hour to reach from TB.

As for a map with all accommodations on it, I'm not aware of one. That's not to say one doesn't exist, though.

I say kidnap them, stay at Jakes (or one of the great villas in the area), and listen to them thank you all the way back to the airport on your way home.

My two cents,
-Eric

Stephanie Genus at Viking House/Great Bay and Morris at Q-Pen/Calabash-Frenchmans rent bikes by day/week. Stephanie has helmets/other gear for rental as well. Gairy Brooks has 2 mopeds for rent at Brooks Retail Chemicals next to Heart of Love Bakery in Calabash.
Treasure Beach is light years away from Sandals which most locals and visitors find absurd, to put it kindly, at best.

For the $$ you'll spend at Sandals you can most likely get a lovely villa with staff. I'm willing to bet the food is better at every villa in TB than ANY big hotel!

Don't waste your money or time at Sandals unless you enjoy the constant whining of jet skis, piped in cheesy American music, obnoxious drunken classless newlyweds, hot dogs and hamburgers vs. authentic Jamaican cuisine, etc... Been there, done that!

If you click on a certain beach (like "frenchman's beach") on the "where to stay" map on this site, it shows the individual places to stay (just in case that is what you saw before that you are referring to). I researched TB a lot in the Spring, and never saw any other map of the accomodations. if you can't talk them into a villa, your friends might like Sunset Resort. It is a hotel with a nice, clean pool, very good restaurant, and a perfect view. They have some two bedroom suites. Also, it is right next to Jakes, and a short walk to most things to do in TB. Let me know if you have any questions. Before our first trip a couple of people from this site gave me some great advice.

Been there done that whole Sandals Experience. Sandals is nice if you want to be around tons of tourists and spend way to much money. Spend less money and have a more Jamaican Vacation and rent a villa in T.B. Your friends will thank you. Hikaru is a great choice! 4 bd rm villa with pool, tennis, snorkeling right outside your door and an amzazing staff. Miss Joyce can out cook the Sandals Chef's any day of the week.

We should ban using the "S" word on this site.

This tread is giving me a mighty chuckle. For all the years that we've been coming to JA and finally finding in the last few, TB...we've come to expect that some folks really really love Jamaica and some folks really really don't. To the couple that expects an AI type of accommodations...let them stay in one and spare yourselves and everyone the constant whinning you will hear....and you folks, stay at Jakes - or just about anywhere in TB and enjoy all the beauty that Jamaica and her people have to give. Treasure Beach is a treasure....nuff said.
