I am happy to see that Doubloon has been officially added to the "Where to Stay" on tb.net! I had the privilege to be in the group of the first guests to stay at this villa. This is the 3rd villa we have stayed in at Treasure Beach, all of which have their own unique personality, but Doubloon is for sure one of the nicest. Thanks to the great hospitality of Laverne, Hiao, and Robert (and, of course, Rebecca!), this was one memorable vacation spot.

The villa is FABULOUS! It is an easy walk to just about anywhere we wanted to go from Jack Sprats/Jakes/Wild Onion/South Jammin’ and the little shopping plaza (forgot name, sorry).
We were very impressed with the renovations and the attention to the fine details especially all of the fine woodwork. From the dining room table, to the slated windows and the flooring of the moon deck, the mahogany wood work gives you the feeling of old world Jamaican charm and provides this villa with a high level of finish. The brick walkway with solar lights creates a nice pathway from the villa to the beach. The plantings and trees all create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. In short, this villa has been very well thought out keeping the guests comfort level in mind.

The 3 bedrooms all have en-suite bathrooms which was a great set up for our group of 5. The king bedded master bedroom opens up to the pool area and the twin bedroom has a private outdoor sitting area with a great view of the sea. The middle room is cozy with a garden view and has a queen size bed. Each bedroom has A/C but also has screens on the windows so it is pleasant to sleep with them open and listening to the sea and sounds of nature as well as feel the cool island breeze. We all slept like babies!

There are so many comfortable and scenic places to sit outside, which is exactly where you want to be while visiting Jamaica. Having left behind a snowstorm in MA, we wanted to make sure we took full advantage of the sun and warmth and spent very little time inside. Doubloon does have TV & DVD, but we never once sat in the living room (probably due to the fact we had wonderful weather!) but it does look cozy and would be a great spot to curl up with a book or watch a movie.

Having that first cup of coffee on the patio sitting in the Adirondack chairs overlooking Calabash Bay was the BEST way to start a vacation day. We actually spent a lot of time, day & night, sitting outside just staring at the sea and the beautiful views. After a few cups of coffee, Laverne & Hiao arrived and served us tasty breakfasts on the verandah that gave us enough energy to enjoy the day.

The pool and pool area cannot be beat especially with the shaded bar area for those who may need a break from the sun. And if you want even more shade, the verandah has lounging couches that make for a cool napping spot. The beach is just a few steps away so you can split the day between beach and pool.

After a full day of doing nothing we would grab a Red Stripe or rum punch and go up to the "moon deck" where we witnessed some of the most incredible sunsets ever! The view from there, day or night, cannot be beat.

Dinner was always the highlight of our evening. Laverne and Hiao surprised us with island delights (I can still taste the stuffed tomatoes and lobster!) and we left the table full and content. Each meal being better then the previous! Not only are these two women superb cooks, they are warm and friendly and are a great addition to your vacation. The caretaker, Robert, lives on the property and sees to all your needs. He too is friendly and eager to make your vacation a good one. Robert has done a wonderful job with the landscaping and some of the little touches such as the wooden “bridge” that leads to the pool area.

Doubloon is beautiful as well as comfortable and offers modern amenities making this a great rental option in Treasure Beach. I am very much looking forward to our next stay there.

Meredith, thanks so much for the compliments - and for being one of our first guests at Doubloon.

I am really touched that you would take the time to write something like this, it just makes all the blood, sweat, tears - and plenty of laughs - worthwhile for such an all-consuming renovation project.

My turn for compliments now. Thank you so much to the people of Treasure Beach for helping me bring Doubloon back to life. To Tojo, Rebecca, Miss Sheila, Bridget, Robert, Gary, Lavern, Hio, Des, Danny, Dickie - the list is endless and I am grateful to every single one of you - you know who you are. And thank you to Stuart for getting me out to Treasure Beach in the first place! And to Karen for her invaluable advice.

'Acceptance speech' over!! If you're reading this and you're not in Treasure Beach, you should be (if you can!). Wherever you stay, you'll have a wonderful, wonderful time with some of the best people I've ever met in my life.

Judy Hanley
Proud owner of Doubloon

Judy-

Thank you for opening your home to others to enjoy!

You and your "team" obviously worked hard and I can't wait to get back to see them all and watch another sunset from the moondeck!

:-) Meredith
