We haven't heard how Jake's and the Jake's family is doing and the extent of the damage. Also, how is Morris and his family doing as well as his store? We are still planning on coming down in Feb. for our annual pilgrimage no matter what! So, if you build it we will come. Best wishes.

We'd also like an update on Jake's. We were supposed to be married there on September 18th. We couldn't imagine going anywhere else for this event, so we rescheduled for December 15th. When we were looking for places to go for our wedding, we researched everything. Now we feel like we know everyone at Jake's and Treasure Beach--- and can't wait to actually be there and meet people. Thank god for this website posting info regularly during Ivan. I've been glued to it, anxiously waiting word on everyone!

I heard Jakes has rooms available next weekend and know some people going there. I don't know about all the rebuilding, but it would be a great place to have the wedding.

hello We presently have a room reserved at jakes an ocenfront cottagefor nov. 28 & 29 Sun. and mon. I haven't been able to contact jakes by phone or e-mail. What is left of our pearl of the carribean? How best to contact the staff for information? Thanks for any response. Bill and Brenda

I know of another business in the area that just got regular phone service restored today. You may want to try again.
Or quite frankly, you could call one of the other hotels in the area (Sunset, or TreasureBeach hotel) and ask them if there is an alternate way to reach Jakes, such as a Cell.

It seems that all those folks there really work well with one another. Last year, we were staying at MarBlue, walked to Dinner over at Sunset and when we were done, Corey (the owner of Sunset) drove us back to our hotel. It was so friendly. People there are great.

Jakes should be getting phone service back today, so keep trying.

They are undergoing a massive cleanup and hope to be fully operational by the middle of November with some rooms opening up within a week or so.

Jakes appears to be headed in the right direction. Elsewhere I think I've also seen it written that they may have a few rooms available soon and that they hope to be back in full swing by mid-November. As far as I can tell, all are well. Just a lot of work to be done around there.
