I just received the following email from Zed. This makes us feel even more privileged that he routinely shares his work with us. And I sure hope there may be a few of you reading this from the DC area who may be able to check out the show!
Wishing you all the best Zed!

Greetings Family, Neighbors, Friends & Followers of the DC Arts Scene:
I just wanted to inform you that a photo from my In-Progress DC photography book has been jury-selected in a competition sponsored by Exposed DC.
I’m honored that the image, “UTZ: Adams Morgan Bus Stop” has been awarded a Best-In-Show. Cynthia Connolly, a renowned photographer and an arts curator at the multi media Artisphere exhibit space in Arlington Virginia was the judge who called out my photograph for a special recognition....someone whom I would hope to keep close as I negotiate the trials and tribulations of advancing a photo-poetic vision of my North American hometown.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
DC Exposed Opening Exhibit This Thursday (March 12, 2015 @ 6:00pm – 10:00pm)
@ Capital Fringe HQ
1358 Florida Ave NE
Washington DC 20002
TICKET DETAILS: http://exposeddc.com/event/2015-exposed-dc-photography-show-opening/?instance_id =1256
Although this is the ninth year of competition & exhibits by this organization (affiliated with Ten Miles Square LLC), I was only informed of their Project by a chance email a few deadline days before my submission. So perhaps the stars aligned.
The Exhibit Opening promises to be a huge party, judging from reports of the crowds from past years, with music & open bar (artisan beers, prosecco & more). The conversation chatter about the perceptions, secrets, visions, locales, sub-cultures & underbellies of the DC Scene (“seen”) should be great fodder for eavesdroppers/translators of the many mixtures that blend in DC.
Unfortunately, there is an admission cover charge ($14 in advance/$20 @ the door) for the Opening, but there will be free show days at the Capital Fringe HQ venue for the month that the show will be exhibited. Exposed DC also publishes a quite handsome color catalog available for purchase.
I hope to see some of you there, but I tend to be a bit timid about calling attention to my person, yet I do appreciate when the Work is well-staged.
One Love...Denzil
Zed is revising his 2nd self-published Jamaica Photography/Poetry book ("Xamayca: Empathetic Cravings").
Here's the Preface poem which relates, in inspiration, to his Treasure Beach sensations.
Poem by Zed
Raise Drawbridge
Charred legs
washed by the morning sea,
a fluttering pincer
holding to the solids
in liquid,
near child who folds herself
into the brace of
skin, bone, brine
suffused sufferings.
Let what go?
The dismissive stares...
the yawning satisfaction
the echoes
drilled into the past
layers...ground
to this bleached sand
the sifting of horse hoofs
the bent-downs
of sway’s sinking
when you wait
to discover that splinter,
a jigsaw scrap
filling the raw edges
of script, slur,
rondos of wild talk,
endlessly slapping
a tidal measure.
Settling-in before open exposure
lying in shaking sands
firmed by the fierce waddle
of the hawksbill she-turtle
(a naming for ocean migrant
& sky-watch striker)
laying her eggs in an obscuring
burial nest...her domed carapace
at limit’s rest.
You are washed in that birthing ––
deliverance – a scrambled
awkward spillage
to the wet buoyancy
reclaimed for maternity...
directionless awareness righted
by beacons becoming...
beacons wide in the extreme.
These night-roaming Vigilants
leaving winged-fluke scrapings
trailing off under the slime taste-smell
of birth partums
risk a predatory sniffing-out
of buried lubed eggs.
The tracery of scattering hatchlings
mark precisely sand’s ancient erasures
writhing under nerve-endings.
The pulsating pull of fluidity...
the return to a nocturnal landfall.
There is a gambler’s wager
for what movement survives
or how long and wide
the morning glory vine
sinks and spreads.
For us – here – the wasting in-Justice:
Dem give we water
fi carry inna basket.
It is now through
the sight-off
the leather-ly leaves
of the coast-almond tree
quivering that she,
who looks to the beyond
is struck
lying face-down
in plummy solace
that she raises both legs
at the knee
reveals the soles to the sky
and lets streaming pass
through her drawbridge.
