Hi All,

I have been going to TB for years now and it really feels more like home to me than my actual home. I have always felt though that there needs to be a good vegetarian/vegan restaurant that also served interesting fresh juices, especially since there are so many tourists who go there that don't eat meat. I also grew up in the baking business and figured, offering some natural baked goods would be nice too since that is also very hard to find there! Would love some feedback from anyone! Thanks!

Ann Lyons had just such a place, with a perfect location the house right across from the "Jack Spratt bus stop" @ turn to Calabash Bay.

She had spent many a year in Jamaica previously operating a place near Whitehouse.

She served up great fresh juices and wonderful baked goods. Killer coffee too.

Like a lot of other startups, despite great food, service and location as well as a seasoned chef who knew Jamaica inside and out and had already run business here well for years-- it didn't last so long and now Ann has migrated back to US.

Keep enjoying your visits to Jamaica but be careful about mixing up the dream of how sweet the place is when you are on vacation with how sweet it would be to run business here. It is a common misconception and for a fact, Jamaica is one of the trickiest, most difficult, over taxed and frustrating places to start and run a business.

Then again, it can be done but will take a lot more money and jumping through hoops and cutting through red tape than you'd think unless you are married to a Jamaican or have extra fat wallet.

Gee Wiz just opened up about a month ago and is located at the May Len Plaza, just up from Kingfisher Plaza. They specialize in vegetarian food.

As far as a foreigner, opening a business are buying property, NOTHING is easy nor straight forward in Jamaica !!!
Thus the need for "deep pockets"

Thanks everyone for the advice! I do know it is incredibly difficult for anyone in business to survive in TB, but I figured why not get some in put. I definitely do not have a fat wallet, so I guess I will just keep dreaming for now! I will definitely check out Gee Wiz!
