It tastes just like oxtail.
I know of people that killed an alligator a few years ago. They trapped it on the beach and burnt it. They didn't even use the meat. They just killed it because "it was a danger".
I reported it to JET and I was told they don't have the man power to investigate, prosecute and hold the people responsible. I was thanked for my report but there was nothing they could do about it. Heartbreaking.
uh, to be fair, doesn't jamaica have crocodiles? alligators are native only to the u.s. and china, where they're endangered.
Is true but the fact remains that people are killing off the last remaining crocs in the TB area either for food or out of fear and these animals are endangered too.
US newspapers are starting to report the story of Jamaicans eating crocodiles which are endangered. Jamaica is being reported as a desperate, continually struggling country that deters many people from visiting.
It is a vicious cycle. When I mention Jamaica, some people immediately bring up the danger and desperation which is just not true, in all cases.

Here is a quote from that article:
"Nobody is getting punished for hunting crocodiles, which is adding to the activity's spread. Even in the best of times, wildlife enforcement in Jamaica ranges from lax to nonexistent, and state agencies are dogged by a lack of financing, with scarce resources to do the investigations needed to catch crocodile poachers."
