Yep, Cobweb Lane. Starts at Taino Cove and ends near Ital Rest.

Who named the place Cobweb Lane? New to me and I grew up in the area. Could this be some kind of joke among the natives?

It's called that because there are masses of cobwebs in the casia trees and fence lines along the lane. We don't have 'natives' any more FYI.

Then perhaps I should have used the word residents rather than natives. Is this a negative connotation? I happily say that I am a native of Jamaica and proudly so. Please educate me!!!

The lane was seldom used back in the day. It was a safe haven for spider web, hence the name Cob Web. CW, "residents" will do fine. We held a funeral for the word "natives" many moons ago; too many negative connotaions to list here.

WHo and you attended that 'funeral'? Really too many to list? It is all in the mind. If we follow this trend we will have more words out than in the dictionary. So we now have two 'N' words!! Great!

I am with you Spooky Dude. You are an intelligent man and I trust your judgment. People have 'funeralized' words to suit themselves. I will say, HAHAHAHA!!!

We visit Jamaica fairly often. Sometimes I get asked if the natives are nice. When people ask me that I get the feeling they think I am venturing into the middle of Africa and might be cooked in a pot and eaten by the "natives". These are the same people who ask me if Jamaicans understand English. If someone came to Chicago from abroad I don't think they would be asking about the "natives" here. So to me that word sounds unkind and ignorant.

Madam, if we follow our feelings and don't bother to enlighten ourselves there will always be unnecessary problems. Words are to be viewed in context, as they have different meanings which are contextual. Several words which cause problems come to mind: use, discriminate, bias, prejudice, exploit etcetera,etcetera!! I am a native of and used to be a denizen of TB. I am sure there are people who will instinctively put a negative image on the word denizen!! Have a nice day!!
