All contributors have moved to greener pastures? Ennui has set in,all the folks with nothing to say must be very unhappy, no one to be mad at! Nobody canna cross it! Where are the usual suspects? Bored to death I submit. Have the turtles all hatched out?
If someone was starving and he caught a turtle and ate it, should we condemn him? If someone was stupid enough to invest in Cash Plus or Olint should the Courts reward their stupidity and greed? Hows about it folks, a little discussion?
Spookster my goodness have you been missed! Right folks?
For those who don't care for Spooky Dude's flavour of discussion, may I respectfully ask that you refrain from responding negatively here. If it doesn't suit you, please just ignore it.
I've come here too many time only to see rude comments thrown at each other and it makes me rather put off of the whole adventure.
Spooky Dude, do you know that since you have been on 'family time' your name has been thrown in the hat for the next prime minister?
Yes I would condemn the turtle eater. But Spooky Dude, your hypothetical question is only meant to stir the pot. The chances that someone happens upon a turtle for their only means of survival rather than the plentiful fruits and veggies etc. is slim to none.
my word I have more respect for myself than that! I would have to be absolute ruler.I wouldn't put up with all the slackness and the evil, vile and vicious creatures masquerading as people. I truly believe we need a dictator to run this country, as we have no appreciation for what we call democracy. The bunch who went before these are worse, yet they go cavorting round the countryside all pleased with themselves and expecting the Jamaican people to be fooled once again. And we are going to, because that is what we are,FOOLS.
Anyway, they scrap metal people took my vehicle and I am going to see if I can recover it before they recommence exporting! LOL At the risk of having my head chopped off, I'd better cease and desist from bloviating!
Yow Bob I am still hoping to have a few pints on you,but we will see.
No plentiful fruits or veggies in TB except the luscious sea-grapes! Is it grape season yet? I would love to go a pickin'. Do you mean a pot of turtle soup? I believe in survival of the fittest. Species come and go,no? If the turtles are not to be eaten and they have no amusement value and 99% of us will not benefit from their existence, why should we go to so much trouble to preserve them? What about channeling the resources on starving people over the world? Would not that be a nobler cause? Just asking?
Seems to me you are unwittingly arguing for a turtle farm Spooky. Not a bad idea 'cause we'd be preserving, consuming, and surviving at the same time. I'm nominating you for Project Development and C.O.O.
Can anyone say if it is illegal to operate a turtle farm in Jamaica.Turtle farming is a big entrprise in Grand Cayman and I think I would like to do the same in Treasure Beach when I get back home.I maybe seeking business parthners for this venture. This public anouncement also serves as a Copyright
No Spooky Dude we are not FOOLS but the MASSES are the [edited by TB.Net].
Vawhn,& La La, you know that thought crossed my mind to suggest a farm. That would be the best way of satisfying the preservation of the specie and also benefitting from their existence. Only a fraction of them survive in the wild....so an undertaking to release a percentage back into the wild at a stage where they are more able to fend for themselves I guess would be a requirement to granting permission. I am only a village lawyer, but I don't think your public declaration of intent would operate as a 'copyright' or any other kind of right! But you should pursue the idea.
Sir Bowl,I am unable to understand what you said because of our Editor-in-Chief, but I can't imagine you running afoul of the 'law'.
Those of you who think the idea of a turlte farm do not understand. What do you think, it can live happliy in a little pond? Do some research on sea turtles before you come up with these ideas. ANd who will pay for the farm? I suppose you think the turtles will?
FYI Unbelievable, turtle farming started in Grand Cayman in 1968,that is 43 years ago. The turtles are raised to 3-4years before 60-70% are slautered for food,a staple in the Caymanian Diet. Some are kept for breeding and some are released into the sea when they are about 1 year old,and are better able to survive.
The farm at Boatswain Beach in Grand Cayman is a major Tourist atraction, 23 acers of adventure. you should pay a visit, and do some research your self
Unbelievable, you are just that unbelievable!! I guess the turtles WILL pay for it, from the return on the sale of some of their meat,and turtles like chickens don't live happily anywhere, they exist for OUR benefit. {edited by TBNet}
