You can now purchase beef, beef & cheese and curried chicken patties at Smurf's Cafe!

And don't forget to order some of Dawn's daily roasted coffee to take home. Just $10 US per pound for Jamaican fire roasted fresh coffee.

Great to be able to get patties from Dawn. How much are they and do you need to order in advance?

The patties are $150 ea. If you need a large order, then it is best to order ahead as they get a set amount each day.

Great, where exactly is Smurf's, in relation to Jake's? Tried to find it today, without success. Thanks.

What this world needs is....

A superb organic vegan patty with high quality protein, good fats/oils and complex carbs. The boiled callaloo in white flour at the same cost as a meat patty is a rip off. Juicy does a passable pretend soya meat patty. Look forward to sampling some other versions.

Remember: You are what you eat.

Best, turey the rabbit.

Lost
Strange that you could not find Smuf's, maybe you should have asked someone on the road the way to Smurf's

Everyone knows Smurf's and the local people are very friendly and welcoming

Ask anyone where Smurf's or The Coffee Shop, or The Bakery is and they will tell you. From Jakes take a left out the gate and walk for about 10 minutes. It is just past the TB Hotel.

I'll buy the patties from Dawn no matter what, but are they made elsewhere or at Smurfs?

They are made by Juicy Patties and delivered to Smurf's for sale.

We recently returned with several bags of Dawn's amazing coffee beans which we plan to use over maybe the next six months. Could someone advise the best way to store them until we use them? I know not to grind them in advance but I am getting conflicting advice about whether to freeze them, keep them in the fridge, or put them in a tightly covered container in my cupboard. Not meaning to be a pain but Dawn would probably be the best souce of advice if a reader should happen to see her.

I have been wondering the exact same thing.

Please get yourself some Mason Jars and keep your coffee in your kitchen cupboard away from any heat or sun light.
When you open to use do not leave the jar open for any length of time as it's the oxygen that will change the flavor the beans.

Please do not store in the freezer. If you have no jars please get some they are the best answer for your beans.

I'm not sure what Dawn would say, but my advice is to keep them in the refrigerator. Short term freezing is o.k. but after several months you may get freezer burn.

I have kept the whole roasted beans in the freezer with good results.
Enjoy.

The best way to store coffee beans is in a vacuum pack in the freezer. It stays perfect that way.

There are many misconceptions on the way roasted coffee should be stored and maintained.
The enemies of roasted coffee are "Moisture,Air,Light and Heat.
Therefore an air tight container with a rubber seal under the lid and of course stored in a dark, cool, dry place is the best environment for your coffee.
Do your own research and you will see I'm not steering you wrong.

My Lock and Lock does the job just right, but as mentioned before get a nice "Mason Jar" you cannot go wrong.

If you think freezing is for you then do it.

Good Luck.

Spent the past two mornings with Dawn and two wonderful meals for breakfast. We got to experience the roasting of coffee beans first hand over an open fire. A truly great place for breakfast, so if just arriving in TB, take a walk to Smurf's.

As a child I can remember My mother also my grandmother parching coffee. That's what we called it in those days.We as little helpers had to do our part by taking turn when it was time to grind the beans using the coffee mill my grandmother had. They never trusted us to parch the beans.

Of course they would let the beans cool first. The worst part we were not allowed to have any.We had mint tea instead.

The last time I saw that coffee mill was in 1992.I can remember my mom using Bottled Coffee or some little packets of coffee called "Second Cup".I did enjoyed that coffee and took some back with me to the States.
My Companion and I are coffee drinkers. After midday we become tea drinkers right-up to bed time.

I will stop in at Dawn's to have some breakfast on my next trip to TB. I can remember buying those delicious rolls and cake in 92 also.

When my dear friend Jackie was there I would stop and eat or have a cold drink also treating most of the men that happened to be there then. This was on several occasions. How could I have sat there and not extend my kindness to others.
