The canal seems to have emptied the pond overflow and kept more flooding from happening.

I hope it will not allow any storm surge sea water to enter the pond/s.

They look like an interesting stroll now that they have sprouted.

Does anyone have a first hand report on their condition now and performance during the storm?

The wall is there and will continue to be until the whole thing rots because of the salt air. The canal drained off some of the pond (and mud) but has come to a stand still. The level is incorrect for it to drain anymore which is a blessing for some and a disaster for others. The sides of the canal have caved in due to the water. I think it is highly unlikely a storm surge would ever make it back up the canal to the pond. The seas were very high during Nicole and it didn't even make it past the little beach.

I realize this might be off topic, but which parts of the stone wall are going to rot, Quest? Perhaps the metal wire used for wrapping would

Or were you using hyperbole?

Referring to the gabion basket itself. Clearly the stone won't rot but I doubt the aluminium wire used for the basket will last very long.

If the reported planting takes good root, the vegetation may stabilise the area. Just conjecturing.
