South Jammin has been having local artists every Sunday night, $200.00 cover, free glass of rum punch with flyer and dance the night away, last night was the hottest with artists of all ages. So every sunday come to south jammin to be jamming with the Heptones and lots of surprise artists. Don't be square, be there.

One Love,
Jo

Hi, Lillian.

Good to hear South Jammin' is having a local artists event. Hope there will be some pictures or a write-up of it when its done.

One question: what is your connection with SJ? We are happy for all to use this space to advertise, but we do request that people disclose their relationship with the place. Are you an owner or someone who has a financial interest in the establishment? Just a patron who had a good time there? Etc.

SUNDAY WAS OUR SACRED DAY. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH LOUD MUSIC WHILE THE CHURCH SERVICES ARE IN PROGRESS?

Sunday is a sacred day for some religions, Saturdays for others and Fridays for others. You cannot expect no music all weekend. If any of the music is so loud you can hear it at your place of worship ANY day or night of the week, it is illegal. Call the police.

I have nothing more to say on this matter.
For every person born and living in Treasure Beach you know the message I was trying to get across so keep up the "SUNDAY MUSIC" enjoy, enjoy.
Mother Nature is knocking hope you will be able to hear her over the Loud Music.

Seems to me the church singing gets rather loud too. I know I can hear it with no problem. Are people complaining about that?
Personally, to each their own as if I were forced to hear music, I would rather hear some good reggae instead of gospel!

Pardon me for saying so and no disrespect intended, but from where I stay in Frenchmans it is often the sound coming from the pastor's microphone at the church that is louder than the sound systems at the night clubs.

The sounds coming from a church are from living people. Unless the congregation is deaf, no need for amplification. Loud could be an effort to bring in the sheep as far as the amps can deliver the message. Many of us get the message but choose to worship in the church not built with cement and steel but clothed with our skin. Quitest there, only me and ......

Both church and system offer emotional release, the churches offer good advise too. The sound system offers trance but no sense and is virtual and repeatable. Same for both, keep it to yourselves. TB is NATURE. Where are the local musicians with hand drums, guitar etc. Encouraging the playing of music also helps brain plasticity and offers a hobby and/or a profession.

We all have our wants and needs. Reality is that if we consider each others needs and learn to delay the gratification of our wants we'd be far on the path we all want to find. Sanity.

WOW - I am not opposed to hearing any music while in TB. Last visit we were treated to the sounds of a church revival every night as well as the Dj down the corner, the street party up the street and sounds from both local bars!!! Bring it on... all of it....there is room in the air and our ears and our hearts to be warmed by all the sounds of TB. Enjoy it while your there visiting cuz you will miss it when you go home. If you live there, lucky you :-)
Missing you, TB....

One thing I would like to mention is that South Jammin was built long before most of the houses were. The reason that South Jammin holds shows on Sunday is because artists tend to be more available at a lower rate. Bands generally compensated 25,000 to Millions. We must charge a cover charge to pay the band. Many locals get angry over the cover charge, but if you want professional artists, we all need to kick in and pay our fair share. Currently the fee is $300JA which only covers half of the expenses while the bar covers the rest.

My interest in South Jammin is as a promoter of fine reggae music, In addition I have invested with the owner, hoping to keep live music alive in treasure beach.

I think it's great for Treasure Beach the place is too boring!! for God's sake let there be some place to go!!!. We need more things to do in Treasure Beach. Instead of putting down business places let's build some more. Treasure Beach needs people to invest in the community. What about all the people that left Treasure Beach can they come up with some ideas that can help create some employment? some activities?. Let's build our community and not bring down the those that are tyring!!!. Where there is growth there is employment and the place becomes productive." Don't wait for someone to green light your project, build your own intersection"..Nuff Respect to all the trying productive people around the world

To lttlemamalisa.. what you describe is great for tourists, but I know of several elderly and infirm residents who must lay in their beds and endure the same old , same old! As well, there are many children and working people that have to get up at daybreak, just to catch the bus to school or work. Would you want dj`s, bar music, loud gospel, etc on the street where you live and work and try to get your kids to bed?
Can there be a happy medium where everyone`s needs are met?

I wish there was a way to make everyone happy. All Joe is doing is trying to bring the best quality of music, without slackness, or rudeness, but traditional reggae, of which he is responsible for the various beets from when he was working with Studio One as their original drummer.

As far as the gospel music, I love it and that is what Sunday in Jamaica is all about.
When I drive throughout the hillside I come across several churchs with singing, it is just beautiful, sometimes it makes me tremble.
