Can anyone recommmend a British carpenter who is living in the area.

I currently live in the uk and building a house in Southfield. I personally would like to employ a British carpenter who has experience of fitting skirting boards, laminate flooring, ceiling rose and ceiling coving.

Don't get me wrong there are good carpenters around but when you try to explain what you need doing they don't have a clue and I want my home to have a lot of British features.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who knows what I am talking about.

Kindest regards

Maybe this person can help or put you in touch with the people you need. Her name is Diane Riley. She has been described to me as a 'British-Jamaican' interior designer who is doing some projects in Jamaica. Her website is: www.dlrinteriors.com

What a swell time to pass on some new skills to the Jamaican carpenters. Think about it.....

Jelsie, totally agree with you. I do believe it would be beneficial to pass on new skills to the Jamaican carpenters especially when there are so many returning residents and they like to keep some of the British features in their homes. Some people are paying English carpenters to come out to Jamaica to work on their home.......

A good all round carpenter is like gold dust....

Perhaps some retired carpenters could teach these skills to their children and grandchildren.
