The ambulance is now working.
is it really an ambulance by the true definition of the word?
i need someone to clarify that for me.
It certainly was when it carried me to Black River a few years ago!
ok cool.
i am asking because i saw a flyer just last week saying it does not transport patients.
unless 1. its a different ambulance, 2. they have change rules since "few years ago" or 3. u were a special case.....
where it says they do not transport patient ,it really mean that if its for an appointment you have to charter. The rules are always the same as far as i know.
My understanding is if it is a life threatening emergency then the ambulance would carry you free of charge. If you are looking transportation to a doctor's appointment, the hospital, etc. not being an emergency then you would need to charter the ambulance.
Thanks for clearing this up. I will enlighten the other visitors who I was with when i saw the flyer what its really about.
This is one of those FUNNY cultural things.
Jamaicans says " will not transport patients".
Tourists very confused about the statement.
JAMAICAN clarify statement :>)
ONE LOVE !!

AN AMBULANCE IS FOR TRANSPORTING VERY SICK PEOPLE.
NOT FOR CHARTER LIKE A TAXI IF THE PATIENT CAN BE TAKEN BY CAR.
USE IT FOR THE RIGHT REASON.IT COULD SAVE A LIFE WHEN REALLY NEEDED.
The reason for the charter is mainly to carry a very sick person how has a doctors appointment and cant sit up and needs to lie down what is so wrong about that. What most of us dont understand is that the ambulance cannot sit down not making any money to keep up the insurances what about gas it dont run off water does it. Some people really need to go out and ask questions instead of saying bad things about.I personally think thats a very good idea for within the areas. Keep up the good work TBERU members. Wish i was there to volunteer my time too. And big up to the persons who came up with the idea of using it for charters im with you all 100%.
I do not recall anyone saying bad things about the ambulance service except that Breds did not used to tell people if the ambulance was off the road for repairs. There was also a problem with reaching the ambulance, and I do not know if this has been cleared up because Breds has chosen not to post a response to that.
To the contrary, Free To Say, people are VERY appreciative of the ambulance service and all the volunteers who staff it.
We know running the ambulance is not free. That is why MANY people who have never used the ambulance have donated money to keep it going.
I have also seen suggestions here for ways the TBERU could raise more money to support their service. Again, Breds has chosen not to respond to any of these on TB.net.
And who said it's wrong to charter the ambulance to take sick people to the doctor? No one did! People are not arguing with that.
Reading this string and all the other things that have been on TB.net about TBERU is somewhat embarrassing to me. If Breds would merely respond to suggestions in a timely manner I think everything could be cleared up. We have some people getting upset and defending TBERU when people are not even saying bad things about it. I have a feeling these people are not even bothering to read all the kind things people have said about TBERU. It is a wonderful community service. Who could possibly not want a good ambulance service if it's for an emergency or if it's there to take very ill people to the doctor or hospital?
