Coming to Treasure Beach for the first time in January...staying at Ital Rest...would appreciate advice on things to do/see...groceries in walking distance...etc

There are a few shops located near Ital Rest (about a 5 minute walk away) and a larger supermarket about a 15 minute walk away. Check out the See It and Do It page on this site to see some of the things available to see and do while you are here.

But one of the best things to do at Ital Rest is sit on their lovely and relaxing verandahs enjoying the view.

In Great Bay there is a small grocery with most of your needs. Doreen and Conga own the little bar next door. They are very nice. Doreen makes a great breakfast. There is a little bar near the Great Bay grocery store where the fisherman hang out, we like to hang out there and talk an drink some red stripe. Michael's Cookshop is behind this bar. He serves great fresh food. Mostly fish from the morning catch. This area is awesome and the best thing to do IMO is just to walk around and meet people. If you like art stop and see Guilty in Great Bay and if you want a massage, see Shirley (Conga's siter) for the BEST steam bath and massage I've ever had. You can also hike the Great Pedro Bluff for some great views. See Doreen about having her brother John take you to the pelican bar on his boat. He will pick you up at the beach out front. It's also fun to walk to Calabash and see the more lively area and eat at Jack Sprats. No matter what you choose, you'll have fun!

Ital rest is awesome. Be prepaired for some serious relaxing and enjoying the joys of nature. You will have a quiet little beach just across the field as well. Great Bay does have a little supermarket (8min walk) and there is also a general store called sea crab just down the lane way. I would recommend lunch home cooked by the lovely lady who owns another general store just down from sea crab. The walk into town is probably 15mins through the lane way. Frankie and Jean the owners will be keen to answer all your questions and help you out. HAVE FUN!

We have stayed at Ital Rest. It is beautiful. Make sure Jean takes you back seaside and take your camera. Doreen is the best. You will have a lovely vacation.
