Car Rental Renting a car in Jamaica is not for the faint-hearted as the driving is done on the left, road signs are sporadic at best, stray cows and goats like to walk in the road, and Jamaicans drive fast. But it can be done. Both airports have several agencies and smaller outfits abound throughout the island. To rent a car, you will need a valid driver's license and can use either a credit card or cash for payment. The average daily rate for a mid-size car is US$60 and the average weekly rate is $375. This does not include a 16.5% tax or insurance coverage. Note: Each agency has its own policy for insurance coverage, payment methods, and credit card acceptance. Please contact them directly. Currently there are no local car rental agencies.
