Light Your Candle
Light the candle in your soul,
Carry it into the dark.
If you find a flame that's losing its glow
Light it with a spark.
The flame only grows brighter
When it gives another light,
And a billion burning candles
Can drive away the night.
Hold up your candle for all to see,
Reach from shore to shore,
And light the world with liberty
Now and forever more!

God Forgive Me When I Whine
Today upon a bus I saw a lovely maiden
with golden hair;
I envied her, she seemed so happy,
and Oh, I wished I were so fair...
When, suddenly, she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle...
She had one foot and wore a crutch,
but as she passed, a smile...
Oh, God forgive me when I whine...
I have two feet...
the world is mine.
And when I stopped to buy some sweets,
the lad who served me had such charm;
He seemed to radiate such good cheer,
his manner was so kind and warm...
I said, "It's nice to deal with you,
such courtesy I seldom find."
He turned and said, "Oh, thank you sir!"
and then I saw that he was blind.
Oh, God forgive me when I whine...
I have two eyes...
the world is mine.
Then, walking down the street
I saw a child with eyes of blue...
He stood and watched the others play;
it seemed he knew not what to do...
I stopped a moment, then I said,
"Why don't you join the others dear?"
He looked ahead without a word...
and then I knew he could not hear...
Oh, God forgive me when I whine...
I have two ears...
the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I'd go,
with eyes to see the sunset glow,
with ears to hear what I should know ...
I'm blessed indeed ...
The world is mine...
Oh, God forgive me when I whine...

Bright Days
What could possibly be more astonishing than a sunrise? The display itself is magnificent beyond belief, and yet it goes virtually unnoticed by millions each day. Beyond that, the meaning of the sunrise is even more spectacular, because it heralds the dawn of a new day, a day filled with bright possibilities.
In an unimaginably vast expanse of nothingness, the sun which lights our every day is the only source of warmth and light within trillions of miles. The distance to the next closest star we cannot even comprehend, much less traverse in a thousand lifetimes.
And yet here we are -- warm, bright, full of life and energy. The sun appears around the horizon each morning and makes it all possible. When you find yourself ready to complain about what you don't have, stop for a moment to consider what incredible things you do have. And resolve to make the most of it all.
