"If we fall, we don"t need self-recrimination or blame or anger — we need a reawakening of our intention and a willingness to recommit, to be wholehearted once again. Each decision we make, each action we take, is born out of an intention.

— Sharon Salzberg"

"An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding; and it is not to be found in foreign lands, but in the heart itself.”

I have adopted a motto that is in keeping with the Salzberg quotation. It goes like this ... "When you fall, don't give up ... get up!" Author Unknown

It is possible to give away and become richer!
It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything.
Yes, the liberal man shall be rich!
By watering others, he waters himself.

From the Bible
Proverbs 11:24-25

"Our repeated failure to fully act as we would wish must not discourage us. It is the sincere intention that is the essential thing, and this will in time release us from the bondage of habits which at present seem almost insuperable."

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and it annoys the pig.

if we look upon events with some perspective,
we see things always happen for our best interests.
We are always being guided in a way

How Honest are You?
By Dr. John H. Sklare

I recently read a very interesting story in the newspaper about a study on honesty. The researchers placed a wallet on the ground and then waited to see whether or not people would turn in that wallet when they found it. In a nutshell, here are the details of what they did. “Each of the one hundred wallets contained $2.10 in real money, a fake $50.00 gift certificate, some miscellaneous items and a clearly written ID card identifying the lost wallet's rightful owner. We were curious as to how honest people would be and wanted to see how different races, genders and age groups would compare to each other.” Each person was also videotaped in the process. Overall, 74 people were honest and returned the wallet and 26 took the wallet and said nothing.

With that study in mind, let me ask you today to assess your sense of honesty. If you were one of those unsuspecting subjects, what would you have done? Would you be counted among the majority and return that wallet or would you see it as a “finders keepers, losers weepers” kind of event? For most people, their deeds of honesty go unnoticed because they are not observed or videotaped. Nonetheless, being honest builds your character and sets your moral compass. These are two things that are not visible to the naked eye but stand out to those who know you. However, if your honest assessment finds that you are to be counted among that dishonest 26%, make today the day you begin to reshape your character and reset your moral compass. That, my friends, is much more valuable than anything you can find in a wallet!

Wishing You Great Health,
Dr. John H. Sklare

"For true peace of mind we must acknowledge whatever fault we live upon, whatever time bomb ticks in our closet, and enjoy our Shangri-la nonetheless. It isn't the absence of the problem; it is how one lives in its presence that matters."

If you wish the world to become loving and compassionate, become loving and compassionate yourself. If you wish to diminish fear in the world, diminish your own. These are the gifts that you can give.
