EVERY DAY

Every day I need you Lord
But this day especially,
I need some extra strength
To face what ever is to be.
This day more than any day
I need to feel you near,
To fortify my courage
And to overcome my fear.
By myself, I cannot meet
The challenge of the hour,
There are times when humans help,
But we need a higher power
To assist us bear what must be borne,
and so dear Lord, I pray -
Hold on to my trembling hand
And be near me today.

ACT OF KINDNESS

A little act of kindness
can go a long way;
It can warm a heart with gladness
and brighten someone's day!

It can drive out storms that threaten
and let the sun come shining through;
It can bring a lasting friendship
that nothing can undo!

Our Father's loving kindness
is what this whole world needs;
There is too much hate and violence,
selfishness and greed;

It has to start with someone,
and that someone can be you and me;
One by one we can make a difference
but someone has to plant a seed!

We can reach out in love to others
all across this land of ours;
Teach them the joy of simple things
like taking time out to smell the flowers!

It's the little things which matter most
and we all can have a part;
But the most important thing of all
is having Jesus in our hearts!

New Beginnings

One of the best things we can do in our lives is this: begin again.

Begin to see yourself as you were when you were the happiest and strongest you've ever been.

Begin to remember what worked for you and what worked against you, and try to capture the magic again.

Begin to remember how natural it was when you were a child, to live a lifetime each day.

Begin to forget the baggage you have carried with you for years. The problems that don't matter anymore, the tears that cried themselves away, and the worries that are going to wash away on the shore of tomorrow's NEW BEGINNINGS.

Tomorrow tells us it will be here every new day of our lives; and if we will be wise, we will turn away from the problems of the past and give the future and ourselves a chance to become the best of friends.

Sometimes all it takes is a wish in the heart to allow yourself ... to begin again.

Scars

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in south Florida, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

His mother, in the house and looking out the window, saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.

The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go."

You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you. The Scripture teaches that God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants to protect you and provide for you in every way.

But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have the scars of His love on your arms be very, very grateful. He did not, and will not, ever let you go.

A PURPOSE

We all have some kind of purpose on this earth,
It's not to hurt people or tell them their worth.

Everyone was put here with an equal chance,
Take a look around you, take a good long glance.

Some were meant to heal, and some to teach,
Some are used to build, and some to reach.

You will go through times that are really rough,
But you will always have someone, when the going gets tough.

Don't judge others, for when you do,
There is always someone else judging you.

Take time just to sit, and observe all things,
A flower and its petals, or a bird and its wings.

For when you just look at what is around,
A new aspect on life could be what you have found.

Live everyday as if it's your last,
Look t'ward tomorrow; don't live in the past.

HUGS

There's something in a simple hug
That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.

A hug's a way to share the joy
And sad times we go through.
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you cause you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone.
For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbor,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing -
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a little hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.

And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or parts -
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts.

LIFE

I'm afraid to look ahead
I don't know want to know what I will find
But lately I've been thinking
and a few things have come to mind

Where will I be tomorrow
when the sun begins to rise?
Where will I be in 20 years
when I look back and remember the time?

Life is just a passing thing
it was never meant to stay
We were all put here together
but could be taken back any day

Friends come and go
and relationships never last
But these are the good old days
the ones that will fill our past

Don't let these days slip away
you'll never get them back
you were put here to live
and you're never going to last

So when it's all said and done
and your time on earth is through
Don't look back and have regrets
Be happy with everything you do.

Judge Gently

Pray, don't find fault with the man that limps
Or stumbles along the road.
Unless you have worn the shoes he wears
Or struggled beneath his load.

There may be tacks in his shoes that hurt
Though hidden away from view.
Or the burden he bears placed on your back
Might cause you to stumble too.

Dont sneer at the man who's down today
Unless you have felt the blow
That caused his fall or felt the shame
That only the fallen know.

You may be strong but still the blows
That was his if dealt to you
In the selfsame way, at the selfsame time
Might cause you to stagger too.

Don't be too harsh with the man that sins
Or pelt him with word or stone
Unless you are sure - yea, doubly sure -
That you have no sins of your own.

For you know, perhaps,
If the tempter's voice should whisper as soft to you
As it did to him when he went astray
It might cause you to falter too.

Dear readers, here's a nice thought that you might want to send to a friend:

THE LIGHT IN YOU

I've seen the light
And it's in you,
In everything you are
And in everything you do!

It's a light that shines
For all to see,
Shining out
From you to me!

The light from a friend
That keeps me warm,
And lets me know
I am safe from harm.

To you I am thankful
In every way,
For you lift my spirits
And make my day!

Thanks for sharing your
LIGHT OF FRIENDSHIP
with me!

WORRY

Worry never climbed a hill

Worry never paid a bill

Worry never dried a tear

Worry never clamed a fear

Worry never darned a heel

Worry never cooked a meal

Worry never led a horse to water

Worry never done a thing, you'd think it oughta.

Worry is like a rocking chair: It gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere
