I am sorry to announce the passing of another icon of Treasure Beach, Mrs. Maullyn Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton, better known as Miss Laurie died on Saturday night at home at the age of 92.

She left 8 children, 5 daughters and 3 sons, 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Miss Laurie was greatly loved by her family and friends. According to Mrs. Sheila Hamilton, who was Miss Laurie's daughter-in-law for 44 years, Miss Laurie was a big tiger cat when it came to her children and family. She loved them fiercely. She was a peaceful woman never having a bad word to say, always loving and nice. She was an expert with embroidery and playing the organ. In her later years she replaced her embroidery for her word search and puzzles, always working on one. She also loved to garden and the ackee, coconut and mango trees she planted are still standing strong in the yard. She was a strong Christian and gave a wonderful testimony to her family shortly before she died.

Miss Laurie was highlighted on Profile of the Month for July 2001.

Miss Laurie will be greatly missed, however, her legacy of kindness will live on through those who knew and loved her.

"Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies." My grandmother was one such lady.I am surely going to miss all those fun times we had together. As children we use to compete with Grams finding words and we would gather around her while she played the organ. She was loving, peaceful, lyrical and always enjoyed a good joke.
Grams, I love you and though you are gone I know that someday I will see you again.I have always tried to emulate your peacefulness as you always say "a soft answer turneth away wrath but grievous words stir up anger."

From granddaughter Carol and greatgrandson Tariq

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Hamilton family on the passing of your wonderful mother/grandmother Miss Larry. May the Lord gird you all with strength and peace in this time of grief. Miss Larry will always be remembered for her kindness and gentle spirit. I can clearly remember her sitting on her verandah doing her embroidery. I also had the priviledge of her dressing my wounds on several occasions.
Love and God's blessing to the family.
Monica Hill-Ogilvie, Grand Cayman.

To the Hamiltons

I had you in my heart

I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
To guide you and protect you
As you go along your way...

His love is always with you
His promises are true,
And when we give Him all our cares
You know He will see us through...

So when the road you're travelling on
Seems difficult at best
Just remember I'm here praying
And God will do the rest.

From Carol & Tariq

my deepest sympathy to Christine Hamilton's family. I have learned to know all Christine's family in Jamaica through her. I work with her for Florence Wilpon and I see her every day. We shared conversations about grandma every day and listening about this sad news has broken my heart like if I already met grandma.

I feel bad for Christine, because it is hard not to be right now with all of you. But our prayers goes to her and all of you.

Sincerely,

Maria
