The unforgetable Miss Mirrie of Watchwell. Miss Mirrie was the Post Mistress for the Watchwell P.O. in the 70's not sure when she retired, Miss Mirrie was a sweetheart. I remember her well because I lived across from the post office in those days and enjoyed walking across to collect my mail especially when I received a mail with a check from my family overseas. She knew you by your family's last name and would check her alphabet box as soon as she see you coming. I have fond memories of her especially sending telegrams in words that seemed foreign to me and wondered what in the world she was saying, but on the other hand I am sure it was understood by the receiver. There is a sweet remembrance of her love to humankind. The community at large and the family members have known someone special in their lives to embrace and cherish her legacies. May her soul rest in peace and God's perpetual light shine upon her.

Only last night I was talking about her. Thank God I am reading The Treasure Beach.net. Miss Mirrie knew everyone who had letters in the box. Once you arrived at the window, if there were letters in the box for the family, she would walk to the direction of the box. If no letter, she would put her hands together, looked you in the face with a smile and walked to the window. Great lady!! We need more people with her personality. Rest in peace, my cousin.

....and she used to have all the letters for each family carefully tied up, and put in the box, just waiting for you to get to the Post Office.

I echo the sentiments by others relating to one of the sweetest soul one could ever meet. All well said. She put computers to shame years ago...as one walks up to the window at the post office she would identify the person from memory and knew if any mail was there. It was amusing to me as a boy going to the post office and listening to what was then a great mystery as she sent telegrams via code.

At All Saints Anglican church she was a devoted member and organist for many years.

Miss Mirrie, as we affectionately called her was a classic example of a good citizen who played a fine innings in her community; and deservedly a fine centurion.

My sympathy to her immediate family especially Miss Cal, Miss Greets, her daughter in Kingston and the Rogers'( be strong my cousins). The Lord strengthen each and everyone of you.
