Miss Channer's family and loved ones, I am truly sorry to hear of Ms. Channer's death. May it bring comfort to your hearts at this time to know that others love and care and are praying for you. And please

"Say not in grief that she is no more
but say in thankfulness that she was
A death is not the extinguishing of a light,
but the putting out of the lamp
because the dawn has come".

To Steve and all the rest of the Channer's family,I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Dear Ms. Channer. Words are not enough to express how I am feeling to hear of this sad news. I have never forgotten Ms. Channer; my teacher, my principal my inspiration who always believed in me..as her student then and there after. I am honored to have been taught my one of the greatest teachers and I can say this with much gratitude. During some of my visits to Jamaica Ms.Channer was usually one of my favorites to visit which I will always cherish.
Steve, your Mom has left behind a legacy that has literally touched the world. May you be comforted in this time of sadness as her soul rest in peace.

To the family and friends of Ms Clevette Channer. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences and my gratitude for having Known Ms. Channer in the capacity of teacher and an incredible human being. Ms Channer touch the lives of all those who she came in contact with. It broke my heart to learn of her passing but comforted me to know that she is with her Lord and Saviour and no longer suffering from an excuriating illness.

A word of encouragement to the family:

Psalm 31:1-3,24
In You, O LORD, I put my trust;Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness.Bow down Your ear to me,Deliver me speedily; Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to save me.For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name's sake, Lead me and guide me.

Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.

Miss Channer was just a wonderful soul. She was a highly respected principal and teacher who served at Geneva Primary school for most of her working years,Justice of the Peace, devoted member of All Saints Church, Organist and an honorable member of the extended community spanning the Pedro Plains.

A firm principal,a committed teacher but beneath that one of the most affectionate persons imaginable. In my mind she served her community with distinction.

One of my cherished moments with Miss. Channer was a particular day she gave me one smack with her strap. She gave a math problem and asked the class for the answer.I knew the answer but a bit timid I did not raise my hand. After brushing a few students who did not know the answer she called upon me to which I responded with the correct answer. Lo and behold she brushed me also and said, "You must learn to speak up!"I did not bother about the strap because I felt good that my answer was right. That event helped me to be more vocal in school from then on.

About seven years later I went to Miss.Channer to ask her for a testimonial. She was very sick with dengue fever to the point that she was unable to write the letter but she would not let me go without helping me. She dictated the letter to her good friend Mrs.Y.Warren who kindly wrote it and she managed to signed it at the end.

Rest in peace my beloved teacher and friend; until we meet again.

Hello everyone,
Please look at the date of some of the posting so you will not be confused as to what is a "Present Death" Or a "Memorial Posting"

Sometimes I myself not knowing that someone died years ago would think it just happened.
Very misleading.

RIP Miss Valsie. You were an exceptional human being. As a child I admired your spirt and zest for life and hard work. You were a trailblazer in the community and to those with whom you came in contact.
