Gone but not forgotten, fathers of the deep

How we wish you were here to see what we have become, and to be a part of our lives.

Your faces we have imagined and your names have been passed on to your grand and great-grand children.

We know you died toiling for us, and how appreciative we are.

On this special day we honour you and we wish you were here to tell you in person what great fathers you were.

Every ripple of the waves and the roaring of the sea is a constant reminder of you, and are forever in our thoughts and prayers each and every day.

We hope God has shone his light on you all and has guided you to a better shore.

Thank you dad for all that you have done.

This is very touching Sharon for me a sister of one of these men. I know its always a sad day for their children, especially those who were too small to remember but hear so much of their dads.

In the midst of the night,
As the dawn broke, or in the soaring sun
Off to see they happily went to provide for their country and their loved ones left behind.
Never again to behold them.

Dad so many thinge have happened since you went away.
So many things to share with you had you been spare by the sea
Though absent, you are ever so near
With the memories of you that we hold so dear.

Papa unlike others I do not know you
I was still in the womb the day you went to sea
I have no memories of you only what I am told, and a smiling picture that's fading away
I often hear how much I look like you
or of an unknown gesture I do that's so much like you
and as my laughter echoes it reminds them of you
These are the memories I cherish of you

Fathers of the deep how we miss you
We see your faces every where we go
We hear your laughter enery minute of every day
How we wish you were here to see all that we have become, and so proud to be a part of you.

We ride the waves thinking only of you
To feel you, touch you or even to embrace you
In the dancing clouds we look for a sign from you
In the smiling sunset we applaud you
when the rainbow comes we smile with you
And in the night when the waves are soothing
we cling to our pillows and softly wisper your names
Seeking, hoping we had answers from you.
