I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dennis Luecke, Friday night. Dennis was a close friend who I enjoyed many a conversation with. I don't know of anything Dennis loved more than a good reasoning session, especially if there was a bit of controversy or debate in it.

Dennis was a very kind man and often made me laugh. He and Fern both make anyone in their company feel loved and appreciated.

I have many many fond memories of Dennis, but probably one of the most precious is every (American) Thanksgiving Day Dennis and Fern invited all us "Ex-Pats" to their house in Seaview where up to 30 people get together and celebrate all we are thankful for. Each year I felt I was going home for Thanksgiving dinner. Just being a part of this wonderful celebration and being considered a friend to our hosts gave me so much to feel thankful for.

My very deepest sympathies to Miss Fern Faulkner-Luecke in the loss of her dear husband, and my sympathies to Dennis' children, family and numerous friends.

Dennis will live long in my memory and no Thanksgiving Day will pass without me reminiscing on his precious friendship.

My deepest condolences to Miss Fern and all of Dennis' friends and family. Like Rebecca, my favorite memories of Dennis are from those many occasions over the years when I was welcomed into their hearts and their lovely home for weddings, parties and holiday feasts. Dennis loved talking politics, and I will cherish our silly exuberant time together on November 4th as we watched and celebrated the recent election of Barack Obama. Rest in peace my friend, you will always be remembered fondly.

I just learned through an email from Lisa Ginzel of the passing of my dear friend Dennis. Though I had not seen him in a while, I continued to think of him often, and I missed him always. He supported me through some very difficult times in the past and we also celebrated together often, especially when he married Mia and me three years ago.

An honorary Treasure Beach resident, Dennis was always a port in the storm for me, as I know he was for many others. He suffered no bull* and always told things as he understood them to be, which is all one can expect of anyone.

Nuf respect to the man Dennis Luecke. Have a cup of the best - on me. You will be missed, as you are already.

My condolences to Fern and all his many friends and spiritual fellow travelers.

Dennis was as kind, gentle and good-humored a soul as I have ever known. He was always ready to give or receive a joke and was ever ready to help those in need. He welcomed friends and strangers into his home and his heart and I never heard him utter an unkind word against anyone. We could all learn from his example. I especially enjoyed our long backgammon sessions in which we battled good-naturedly for hours and chatted about anything that came into our foolish heads. I will miss him dearly. Loving condolences to Miss Fern. Joshua

Ms. Fern and Dennis Luecke are close, close friends of my husband and I.
We will miss his earthly presence, and pledge to stand by Ms. Fern through this time of change.

Dennis was my spiritual mentor, and my social activity planner:-) Dennis loved to socialize, laugh, converse, eat out, and was my Pizza partner at Jack Sprat's at least once a week. A friend like Dennis comes once in a lifetime.

Our condolences go out to the entire family.

Dear Ms Fern,
I only met you and your husband briefly during last Year's TBWG Fashion parade in which you hosted (and did a fab job) and I organized. You struck me as such a strong amazing woman and my sincere condolences go out to you and your family during this time.

Miss Fern, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dennis.

I will never forget what a rock he was at the funeral of my friend Stuart, presiding with such strength and empathy, knowing the right thing to say and the right way to say it.

In fact, the two of them are probably 'up there' right now, enjoying lengthy debates about anything and everything!

Stay strong, Miss Fern, and draw on the love and support that I know you have in Treasure Beach and beyond.

Fern, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Dennis were the perfect couple, always loving and respectful of each other. I know you will miss him terribly and so will I. You were such good friends to me during my life in Treasure Beach. How he loved to tease me and how I loved to respond. I will cherish always our time together. Be kind to yourself, Fern.

Dearest Fern,
My prayers have been with you since I heard of Dennis' passing. He is reasoning with God and making the angels laugh with his delightful sense of humour now! Our memories of Dennis are filled with his loving spirit, his delilght in a lively debate and his devotion to you.
Because of my broken ankle, we won't be able to make it to the service at Lover's Leap on Saturday, but we will be thinking of you and Dennis and giving thanks for the joy he brought to others.
Bless Up,
LaRonda Robinson

I was shocked to just learn of Dennis' death in a letter from Elmhurst regarding our 50th reunion in October...he was listed among our deceased classmates. Dennis and I roomed together our second year at EC and we shared many happy times together. For a while he was here in Louisville where I currently reside..he as a Lutheran Pastor and myself as a UCC Pastor. Its ashame how we loose touch with people from our past. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
