I was driving to Little Ochie today when I heard on the radio that the Great Byron Lee had died. How fitting that I was on my way to the very place where I got to see Byron Lee perform live. Just a few days ago I was reminiscing with Bebe Sutherland about the day several of us piled into his boat and went to see Byron Lee at Little Ochie. It was another one of those "best days of my life" days. We had such a great time! I really didn't think I could dance that much in one day!

And Byron Lee? That man had energy, vibes,and talent that just would not quit.



I'm sure there are many others out there who have wonderful memories of seeing Byron Lee perform or enjoying the energetic music he brought to us. He will live on forever in his music and in our memories.

He was an Icon, one I idolized throughout my youth and had the privilege of seeing in NY one year ago. I truly loved the man and wish for him complete rest until His maker comes. He truly was a Protrait of My Love.

I saw him live in concert in a park in Toronto back in 1984. I got there early and couldn't believe that was him helping to set up the stage!

But that was Byron Lee...as humble as he was talented. And yes, the concert was great and every one, to paraphrase one of his greatest hits, wined their bum-bum -- even those of us who had "Tiney Winey" ones, like me!
