I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Kisoun family in the loss of four members of their family in a fishing/boating accident. The Kisoun family blessed us with their presence in January as 35 members gathered together in Treasure Beach to celebrate the wedding of Andre and Carol. We had the privilege and pleasure of getting to know this wonderful family and many of us became life long friends.

I would now ask you to join me in sending our thoughts and prayers to them as their loss is something we all understand. They are also from a small fishing village where everyone is either related or known each other from birth. Please read the following article for more information.

Again, my deepest condolences to the Kisoun family as we witnessed first hand the close relationship you all had with each other.

To the Kisoun family, you can't imagine how sorry I am to hear this terrible news. Polly and Lancel (at Lyric) are also deeply saddened by this tragedy and just can't believe it. They send their love and condolences to you all.

This is a big story in Canada. The family is a well-respected Inuit family , as the article reveals, and across all of Canada from sea to sea to sea, it was regarded as a terrible tragedy.

It amazed me when I read the Kisoun family had been in Treasure Beach in January and it brought home to me how small our world really is. One world, one love, how true!

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Kisoun family. It was a pleasure to get to know everyone while you were here and to see such a close knit family. My prayers are with all of you during this very sad time.

Hello Treaure Beach! Miss Rebecca, and everyone else

Wow! Thank you all for your thoughts & prayers! Gives me great warmth to see that you are thinking of us. It is a very hard time rite now, but it makes it easier when we know people far & wide have our family in their thoughts & prayers...

My thoughts & prayers go out to those families in Treaure Beach who lost their loved ones at sea as well.

Once again, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

God Bless

I too would like to thank the people of Treasure Beach for their kind thoughts and prayers during our most difficult time. Yes our family is large and we stay strongly connected by our love and respect for each other. Losing our Dad, Sister, Niece, and Friend - Victor Allen, Delma Kisoun, Asta Kisoun-Hind, and Isaac Shingatok - was and is the worst pain I have ever felt, my heart is still shattered and I continue to hope I could wake up from this bad dream, but life has to go on as I know they would not want us to stop being happy and loved and loving. My family was making their way to our whaling camp -Baby Island when the boat swamped and they were thrown into the mighty Mackenzie River (2nd largest/longest in North America)...my brave nephew Peyton Kisoun-Hind used every ounce of his strength to keep his Mom and Sister from slipping away, my Sister held my Dad for as long as she could as well although he had already passed. Peyton is a strong swimmer and got to shore despite the strong current going in several directions. He used the skills my Dad taught him to build himself a shelter using drift wood and dried grass. Where he was found is now called Peyton's Point and it will be at this point that we will erect a memorial on a stump of a huge log, the log has an amazing resemblance to the Madonna (mother and child). My brother Gerry could not find Isaac, he believes he will come up with the ice in the spring, with God's help and desire I believe too. Writing about Dad, Delma, Asta and Isaac is very healing for me, thank you for taking the time to read this and know a little bit more about us. We were so honored to be your guests last January, you reminded us of our own people and how we are so happy when visitors come. My brother Gerry's family and I talk about TB at every chance. I have had the priviledge of travelling to several vacation spots, Treasure Beach and it's people is the best and most welcoming of all. Much respect and love your friend Donna Kisoun

Please know Donna our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your lovely family. And we look forward to everyone's return trip to Treasure Beach so we can give you our love and respect in person.

Peyton's Point sounds like a perfect place for the memorial. And Peyton sounds like a pretty amazing young man.

Until the next time . . .
