I would like to add my condolences to the family and friends of Martel Clarke. My fondest memories of him will always be his exhuberance shown while singing hymns at the Calvery Assembly Church of God. I'm sure he is singing and dancing in Heaven now!

It is with extreme sympathy that we offer our condolences to brother Wire's family.
He is gone but can't and won't be forgotten as he was an exceptional individual.
Be strong, as we know he is gone home to rest.

To all the family members of uncle Martel: It is with much sadness that I am sending my deepest sympathy to all of you. He was the last of my uncles on either side of my family so it is sad to see him go. On the other hand, he is at a better place where he is no longer experiencing any sickness or pain. Uncle Martel may not have been rich in his pocket, but he had a heart of gold and it was always a pleasure to see him. He gave what he had and that is: his love, his words of wisdom and encouragement, his laughter and most of all his blessings. I may not have seen him often enough but I've always loved him for just who he was, my uncle. Sure enough his work was completed here and God saw it was time for him to take his eternal rest. So to the family let his legacy live on in each of us as we remember him with his love for singing and serving God.
Love as always from neice
Carolyn (Ward-Ashman),Earl,Jermaine & Tabitha

Like Carolyn, uncle Martel was my last uncle on both sides of my family and he will be dearly missed. He was such a colourful person that to know him is to love him. As long as he was not ill, it was most likely that I would see him on the road whenever I am in Treasure Beach and I would take him home and we would have a good talk. He served the Lord with all his heart, soul and body.

So long uncle Martel 'til we meet at Jesus' feet.

My condolences to the immediate and extended families of my last uncle Martel "Bro Wire" Clarke. He was truly a man who loved the Lord and is now home in the safe arms of Jesus where he belongs.Uncle Martel faced many types of adversities in his life but refused to be floored by any...true manifestation of the character of the man and his undying faith in his God.There were times when he was confronted by situations that would easily have knocked over a lesser mortal but uncle Martel just remained steadfast and at his jovial best.It was a treat to be in his company and he has left me with a legagy of fond memories. He was one of a special breed of men that is fast becoming extinct.Sleep on my uncle, you deserve your rest.

Milt and I wish to send our deeepest condolences to the Clarke Family on the passing of their beloved Martel. He was a lion. Though we are only visitors in Billy's Bay, He made us feel like part of his family. This year he was bed-ridden,and though Milt visited and I sent over sweets, we missed his tall figure walking over to visit us at Irie Rest with that easy smile on his face. We dearly loved his visits, always he had a story or two to tell, encouraging our support for the church, which needed no convincing. To those of his family we know best: Herman,Geraldine, Nazita, McCarl,Leandy, Shereen and Lennie, know that we are thinking of you and praising God for Martel's life and now, his hereafter.

As a little girl I was moved by his rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In" sang at a concert which was held at the Pentecostal Church over thirty years ago. He sang so beautifully and demonstrated how he planned on marching into glory. The congregation came alive... and he got several encores. March on my brother...March on... you will be remembered for a long time. You ran your race with tremendous dignity and style.

Uncle Martel had the natural ability to be funny both with his jokes and his characteristics.

Your whole family will miss your presence and your laughter, and although there is sorrow and emptiness left behind I can only imagine how ecstatic your siblings are – just waiting to welcome you in heaven. I know my grandparents will be jubilant because all of their sons have finally returned home to the arms of love.

Uncle, you were one of God’s masterpieces and you will forever be framed in my mind.

Vergenny Clarke

On behalf of the children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren of brother wire I would like to thank each and everyone who took the time to extend their condolence and express their rememberance of my beloved grandfather. He was very dedicated to the church and to the lord who saw he was weak and getting tired so he called him home to be with him on sunday morning his favourite day of the week, so instead of going to church this time he went to be with the lord where iam sure he is very happy to be. When he was on his feet he never missed a convension and wherever sickness or death was, he would always be there to pray and comfort everyone. Brother wire was a very impressive person, wherever he goes his presence would always be known,he never shyed away from anyone or anything, he was a lover of family, friends and even strangers, it will be hard going home and not having him come over to invite me to church, and not seeing him standing at the door ushering everyone in.He use to always say to me "Iam the usher".so proud of his job.He will surely be missed by everyone who knew him,and trust me everyone knew and loved him.

To all the family and friends of (Brother Wire) I would like to pass on deepest condolences from me and my siblings. He was one person the moment you saw him coming from a far you know you should be prepared for some laughter. He would entertain us with his mouth organ/harmonica on special occasions just as his brother (Mass Cecil). As a little girl whenever there was a (set-up)in the district and we were allowed to attend we would look to see if he was there because we knew it was going to be not just a sad night but laughter was also going to be in the mix. He was such a good and humorous person and I know he will be missed.
May his soul (RIP).

We join in condolences to Martel Clarke's family, while celebrating an extraordinary life.
We have a fond memory of his coming to Hikaru, years ago, to pray with one of our friends who he had learned was afflicted with Parkinson's disease.
Our friend was Jewish. That made no difference. He and his family appreciated and understood the depth of Mr. Martel's faith, and gratefully accepted his plea to the divine, regardless of differences of religious practice. Our friend felt uplifted; we were grateful for such a compassionate neighbor.

Let us especially as relatives not just wait until someone is dead to pay sentiments - pay our respect when the person is alive - will be more appreciated. This is not specifically to this case but a general notification.
This is typical of a lot of Jamaicans - they will fly from the ends of the earth to come to the funeral and have the biggest set-up yet still they were not interested when the person was alive.
Let us try to do better to our fellowmen.
Don't scatter roses when I am gone.
God Bless you all.

It it with deep sorrow that I express my sympathy on the passing of Mr. Martel Clarke. I didn't know him personally, but to his dear wife and children, especially Lizeth, I hope that the Great God of comfort will help them through this moment of grief. To the rest of the family, especially Miss Etna Ward and her family, Garth and his family, Vergie and her family, I wish great consolation for you at this time, and healing in due time.

All, in all, although we grieve we do not give up. We look forward to a fresh new day when we will see Mr. Clarke in the New World (John 5:28, 29; Acts 24:15)
