A man drowned yesterday in Calabash Bay. Guess later on you will get the details. He is not from the area. His body has not been found yet.

I heard of this drowning by calling my home in Ja.
From the area that this took place it seems to me that the body would be caught under some reef/rock as the rip-tide would be going in a westernly direction.
Does this seem right?
Look under a big round rock.

This news is soo Sad.
I Saved a man 2 years ago from drowning in the sea outside Jakes he was caught up in that dreadfull riptide. There was an exceptionaly SMALL warning sign at that time in the little cove bit at Jakes!
I really want to see some decent warning signs up next time i am in TB to help to prevent this from happening.
I really am so sad to hear this, much love to those who suffered from this loss

I am truly sorry for the loss.I can't tell you how bad I feel to have to add another name to the deceased list. I know that we all must die once, but still it is hard to let go of those we love and spend so much of our lives with. God bless the family.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Had it not been for a good friend who reached out his hand, I may have drowned in that very bay last year as well. Every once in awhile the hair on the back of my neck sticks straight up thinking about it. I was very fortunate that my friend had his wits about him because it would seem I did not. The sea was a little too rough. The current ever-so-slowly moved me to a small eddy in front of a rock which had much of the sand removed around its base. Once I lost my foothold on the sand in front of the rock I found myself trying to simply stand. My friend was only about five feet away but that five feet made all the difference in the world. The next morning, many folks reinterated that Calabash Bay is not a place to be swimming in anything other than calm water...boy are they right! There was a sign warning of the ripetide in rough seas but I didn't quite understand what rough was. As "very concerned" said, the water is something to be respected. I learned a great deal that day.

How sad! May he RIP.

At least the family will be able to lay him to rest and have some closure

Roy & I were childhood friends. Recently we were in contact with each other and spent hours talking about our memories of growing up in Newcombe Valley,
eating mangoes and playing cricket. He called me prior to departing England and unfortunately I was unable to get back to him. I will regret this for the rest of my life. Roy was such a good friend, always outgoing and smiling. We had both hope to return to Jamaica once our daughters completed college. We were especially looking forward to seeing one another and just talk & laugh about the old days. I will miss you and you will always be in my heart dear friend. To the family
my deepest sympathy. You will be in my prayers. May your faith in God be your strength.
