We had many nicknames during our school days at Sandy Bank during the late 60's and early 70's. Unfortunately I cannot remember most of them. I thought it may be worth a few lighthearted moments if anyone could jog my memory. To protect everyone's privacy, please do not mention anyone by their real name.

Apologies to you T,B. I shared many happy moments at Sandy Bank, and my hazy memory does not recall nick names for malicious reasons. In light of your objections however, I respectfully withdraw my post. Cheers!

There is nothing good about this posting. What it will cause is words going back and forth.
Let us pass on this one.

It surprised me to see such a thread being opened. In our community most nicknames were not aimed at building self esteem. Maybe elsewhere or maybe times have changed. Happy to see the lack of enthusiasm.

Wow!I will admit my bias right away but its my take on this topic which was a huge issue with children. A lot of children and adults reacted very badly to nicknames and of course some people love their nicknames. Well, I got nicknames when I was at Secondary School, some I did not like and some was ok. But, as I looked back today, it supports my health as sometimes I have a good laugh at myself for the stupid little things that used to caused me to get so worked up, angry and bitter.Talking about it for me, shows growth and maturity as really now I see life through the eye of an adult, "word is wind," as the elders always tell us children.
On the other hand, for real, who can honestly say they did not get a good laugh at someone who screw when called a nickname, I remember hiding and laughing as I did not want the person to see me laughing.
Just the other day, a friend called me here in Florida and the first thing he bellowed out a nickname that I thought was only known by my classmates but it just brought back sweet memories of school days.
When I meet with friends here or when I am back a yard and having a drink with friends, its things like this we sometimes reminisce and talk about the good ole days.

sticks and stones may break ________ but words will never hurt me. that is a dirty lie. words always leave an impact for good or bad. be honest, when any one say to you, or you heard it said to some one else, the off word, are you not offended, surpised, shocked.especially when they are frustrated or angry. do not lie to your self.
