As children we played a game where we formed a circle and sang a song that I have mostly forgotten. Some of the words sounded like "what can you do, punchy(?) never little darlin', what can you do punchy never little dear. We'll do it too punchy never little darlin', we'll do it too punchy never little dear".

If anyone has a clue as to what the correct words were, and how the game was played, please remind me. These are lost songs that I'm afraid today's generation has no idea about; what with tv's, video games, ipods etc.

I remembered the words were like this:-
When the game is just starting they sing
'Who is coming here Punchinella little darling'
'Who is coming here Punchinella little dear'
'What can you do Punchinella little darling
'What can you do Punchinella litte dear'
and then the person does an action
and the others join in, does the action and sing
'We can do it too Punchinella little darling
We can do it too Punchinella little dear'
then Punchinella selects someone else after they sing 'who is the best Punchinella .......'

I think the word is Nella and not never, punchy Nella referring to a girl.

Thanks for the reminder to you both. I was just a wee one, and only remember the words as I pronounced them back then. Such sweet memories!
