RIP, Cleve Gordon
A year or two after Cleve Gordon went away on Snowboy my mother named my youngest brother, "Cleve." His mother, Miss Erline asked my mother, Mazie Moxam, what the baby's name was. She replied, "Cleve." Upon hearing that, Miss Erline, remarked, "Cleve? Cleve is the sweetest name in this whole world." To say the least, it was a touching moment. I was yet a young child but I'll never forget it.
May he rest in eternal peace.
-Marcia Moxam
I did not have the chance of knowing Cleve,Mass.Jimmy and Miss.Erline son that was gone on the snow boy, but for several years my mother had a table which she kept that she said was made by Cleve, she always kept it covered making sure that nothing that would destory that table got on it.He was one of the youngest guys on board the Snow Boy, almost too young to be going on the keys.May he is rest in peace.
UNCLE CLEVE I DID NOT GET THE CHANCE TO KNOW YOU, BUT MY GRANDMOTHER ERLINE AND MY FATHER ALBERT ALWAY TELL US ABOUT YOU. MY FATHER CRY EVERYTIME HE TALK ABOUT, BECAUSE YOU WAS GOING TO CAY TO BE WITH HIM.YOU ARE ALWAYS REMEMBER AND LOVE REST IN PEACE UNCLE
It was my plan for my younger brother Cleve to join me in England, but fate took a hand and the sea claimed him. What will be, will be. The pain of his loss will never leave me.
The saddest thing of all, as Cleve's body was never found, my beloved mother Erline always clung to the hope that one day her Cleve would return, that she would see him walking over the brow of the hill towards her - coming home.
Cleve - I will never forget you,
Your loving brother Carvel
