This page is dedicated to the memory of Vernal Moxam who lost his life at sea.
Please leave your remembrances and pictures of him in his honor.
RIP, Vernal Moxam
Rest in peace, my dear cousin.
Our parents often told us about Cousin Vernal.
The sadness at his passing was made worse for his family by the fact that he had just returned from England.
So, before they had had time to get used to having him back he was off to explore his options in the sea, only for that terrible tragedy to overcome him and the others.
Of course the Jamaicans among us are accustomed to the saying, "Man born fi drown caan hang".
Earl, what a sad story!
Imagine coming home fresh from England after not seeing your country and family for seveal years and for that to happen.
I wonder if he had any children?
Hello, my name is Ruth Moxam. I just found out about this website last night and cannot stop crying. First and foremost my dad's name is Vernon, not Vernal. I am truly happy to read all the different emotions and to know that I have cousins whom I would love to meet.
I was 10 years old when my dad died. I have no memory of my dad,the shock of his death has wiped out my memory up to that point. I am now 55 years old and still cry for my dad. We do not have a photo of daddy. No one in the family has been able to give us a photo. Our children, his grandchildren all we can tell them is that he resembles his sister Aunt Ita.
My dad married my mum Doris, they lived in Denbeigh, Maypen in Clarendon. They had 3 children, Ruth, Winston and Doreen. My dad also had other children one of whom died of cancer 8 years ago, his name was Norris. There is also Lincoln, Joan, Beulah and Milton. We all have children of our own and they also have children so my dad is a great-grandad. If I had ONE wish, just ONE it would be to spend ONE day with my dad and to feel his arms around me and to hear him say, Ruth my daughter I love you.
I would love to hear from my family.
Ruth, I'm not your family but I just wanted to wish you the best in your quest. Your words touched my heart deeply. I know how hard it is to love someone you love so deeply. Best wishes and Love
Ruth, our apologies for the misspelling of your father's name. We have corrected it and give you and all of your family our continued condolences.

Hi Ruth
I'm crying too, but with tears of joy, because I know how much finding this piece of your past really means to you, Winston and Doreen.
I hope, over time, that there will be many more entries in memory of a much loved father.
Here is a link of interest that you may find helpful.
With love always from your little sister 'Angela' xxx
