RIP, Vil Dicker
It is hard to believe that it will be 22 years in August since my father, Neville Albert Dicker, known to all his friends as Vil, was reported lost at sea. After 25 years of marriage, he and mother were still so much in love, setting the perfect example for his children. I still miss him so much. I shall have my eyes peeled for him and my sister Mitty on resurrection day. He was the best.
Mary
Mary, your dad was indeed a wonderful man! As a teenager I visited your home often, since Betty and I were very close friends. Your grandmother, "Ma Beebie," Mitty, your mom and your entire family, felt like family to me as well. My mother and your grandmother worked at TB Hotel together as young women and were life-long friends. Your dad's passing, like all the others, was such a sad event and Mitty's nearly two years ago still has us all reeling. Life's so short!

I miss my father more than ever. And will never forget him. I would like to thank the person who decided to do this memorial, its a great thing to remember the fathers, husbands, and sons that were lost to the Caribbean sea. Thank you for remembering them.

Although I never met Grampa Vil, I have heard many good things about him. I cannot wait until Paradise is here and i can meet him.
ville the news was so shocking to us but your smiles and your jokes when you visited you cuz ada will be always be remembered
From England, I have stumbled into these messages by accident. I read and share your sadness. In 1949
when I was eight years old my parents Dr & Mrs Elgood took over the Treasure Beach Hotel from a man
I recall only by his surname,"Dicker". In September 1950 he took the hotel back , when my parents left to go to Africa. While we were in the hotel he lived down on the beach in a small house. I knew him well. Maybe he was not a relative of yours ?
My sympathy is a poor gift but I wish you comfort
and good things.

To the memory of Mass Vil, as a pre-teen/teenager I remember his funny jokes and so full of life. His memories live on. To all his children, especially Dawn, my classmate from primary school,
keep his memory going, I know he was a great dad.

The day that VIL A.K.A (Money Man )lost at sea ,i was suppose to go to Pedro Cay that day but because of the weather i did;nt go ,in my pail i had some comic books for him ;he alway love to read ,so whenever i am on the Cay i can alway get a book from him to read . In the evening Vil, Maxie and I, will sit on a log on the north side of the Cay , we will sometimes talk politic ,fishing ,current even ,his school days and his love for his family .
I remember his daughter graduation i was driving the Mini-Van and Vil was the conductor ,he so funny he has everone laughing .
In a few words Vil were a superb person ,kind and a fine example of what a good Father should be
I was a Peace Corps volunteer working with Mr Wilton Graham and the CB Fisherman's cooperative from 1983 to 1985. I clearly remember the day that Mr. Dicker was lost at sea; it was a rough day for the entire community. I remember meeting Mr. Dicker a number of times before his untimely death;I also knew both Mrs. Dicker and thier daughter Jackie. All good people.

Hello, (to all) Dicker family.it,s with wonderful memories of a kind and thoughtful man.who took me to kingston in his white van to get my passport.I send deep felt sympathy and condolances to all of you.He went away and left a wonderful family, whom i know very well. But you all know, him and mitty is waiting in"Heaven for a reunion on judgement day".R.I.P Mas ville.
Mass Vil was a wonderful friend - he always called me his wife whenever he came by the workshop - he always joked that when Nicholas and Mama Weeze died he would marry me since I looked so much like her. You are gone but will never be forgotten - your son married my daughter and he is just as wonderful as you were - very funny and keeps us laughting when we get together.
You would be proud of all your grand children and my prayer is that we will all meet in the resurrection on the paradise earth.
I read the note in the front page of this article and cried because it reminded me of the way i reacted when i heard my dad was missing at sea.
