I never knew my uncle Allan, but my dad Rohan Moxam talks about him and say he was a good brother, whom he loved and still misses. It still hurts my dad to talk about the unfortunate tragedy. Even though I never met him I love him.

p.s. from Rohan
He was one of the best boat captine in treasure beach. But that day was not his day.Allan loved his son mickel very much and used to talk about him all the time. And he loved all his cousins very much and sisters and nieces and nephews very much. He all ways have a smile on his face. And loved all the girls. He was the best. All the guys in bluntas and treasure beach area still talks about him every time we meet. And misses him he used to teach alot of young guys to fish on the cays and teach them how to captine boat. I love him always.:-)

Uncle Allan was loved by so many. He was the smartest, funniest, easy going man I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He loved his family fiercely especially his son Mikhail who was his proudest accomplishment. There isn't a family gathering where we don't talk about our fond memories of him. He is truly loved and is missed by his father, Gosten; his sisters-Beverly, Shirley, Gloria, Enid, Jenice, and Pathrecy (Terry); his brothers-Herman, Lynvall and Rohan; and his nieces and nephews who were fortunate enough to have met him, whose lives he influenced and touched in special ways-Merphia, Dale, Christine, Kevin, Priscilla, Shawn, Nicole, Marlon, Debbie, Marvin, Sherise and Calesia.

I agree entirely with those who have highlighted Allan's great personality. He was, indeed, fun to be around, always smiling, ever ready with a joke.
Fishermen, worldwide, and throughout history are known for their tall tales. Allan used to tell the tallest of tall tales! And he told them with such clarity and the straightest of face!
One that stood out for me went something like this:
"Cuz, I was in town the other day and was walking down a road when I came to a section where four light posts met up. And as me reach the four light posts, out step four man, each one with a gun! One put im gun to mi right ear; another put his to mi lef' ear. The third one put him gun to mi chest and the fourth one to mi back!"
Suffice it to say that (according to my brave cousin!) he was able to talk himself out of that 'little' jam and lived to tell the (tall) tale!
Allan loved life and he loved his family.
Sadly, and ironically, the last time I saw him was at the memorial service and exhibition we had on the 25th anniversary of the 'Snowboy' disaster.
He was very proud of my own involvement in that particular event, informing everyone that it was organised "by my little cousin!" (Of course, I was only one of several persons who worked to put it on!).
Tragically, it was only about a month later that he went away...
I still remember that day and continue to mourn his loss.
We all miss you, Cuz.

My uncle was a very special person. We were all devastated when we got the news that he went missing at sea. He loved his family especially his sisters whom he had a great relationship with. I loved him and will always miss having him around.

Rest in peace Uncle.

Christine

I am a friend of Allan's son Mikhail, and eventhough I didn't have the pleasure of knowing your dad, I'm sure he was a great man. I understand what you are going through because I have had the same/similar experience and I want you to know that you are not alone.

My uncle Allan, i am sorry to hear you had died, being away in Canada- sometimes its hard to know whats going on. But i just want to tell all the Moxam family to be strong, although i dont remember much since i left so long ago- i do remember my uncle allan. May the father in heaven keep the rest of the Moxam family safely, and all of treasure beaches sons and daughters, that they may see him on that great day.

Allan was on heck of a sweet and wonderful cousin. The last time I saw him was at the tomb building for my dad, Carl Moxam. It had been years since I had last seen him and we were so VERY, VERY happy to see each other again. I believe I took the last photo of him. He promised to bring me beans from his garden but never made it since I was leaving the very next day. But I will never forget the sweet hug and kiss he gave me nor will I forget all the fun he was when we were children. I love and miss you my darling cousin.
From your "big" cousin, Mar

Hi everyone,
Allan Moxam was my Great Grandfather and I was told of what happened to him by my grandmother (Rose Moxam) when I was younger. Now that I'm a little older to understand death and the value of life, it's always unfortunate to lose a family member whether you know them or not. The affect may not be as catastrophic when you don't know the individual but nonetheless it's still sad.

I've been told about bits and pieces of the Moxam family history and I'm highly interested in learning a lot more. If anyone has information to offer, I would really appreciate it. My email is available so that's the way to contact me. Thank You.

RIP Grandpap

Allan was such a handsome cousin. I remember the day so plainly when I heard about Allan, it was so unfortunate that is life was cut short but his spirit lives on. Moxam family you all are great.

I can clearly remember Allan coming to my grandmothers house the morning he left for sea. He had to come see his aunt before he left. He was so funny and loving to his family. Gone but never forgotten. May his soul rest in peace.

I came to know Allan Moxam back in the late 1980's through work experiences. Back then, we used to run what was then called "Packer" as we would go from the mainland in Calabash Bay to our offshore destination, preferrable Middle Keys to purchase fish for our respective Bosses. It was during this timeframe when I was looking about my papers to migrate to these United States and Allan was in a similar situation sorting his papers too. I came to know him as kind, caring and considerate person. I was impressed with his intellectual qualities. It's sad that he has gone before sharing his knowledge with the rest of the world. Allan you are greatly missed.
May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.

Allan was a special individual..the type that comes along once in a lifetime. I have fond memories of him from our school days at Sandy Bank Primary School. He was my friend, classmate and opening partner for Ford House in interhouse cricket matches. People used to call us by the names of popular indian cricketers because of our resemblance to them.Allan was also pleasant and humble..a generous individual with a gentle spirit. After we graduated from school we went our separate ways in life and I had not seen him for many years.I was quite perturbed when I learnt that he went missing at sea. Precious memories of him will always linger in my heart.

For years I've always wanted to leave a comment but knowing what to say has been a challenge. After 25 years without knowing my biological father,if I was suppose to say ma heart didn't bleed for him I would be lying but I guess he knew what he was doing when he impregnated my mother cause she's truly a champion. I take comfort in the stories I've heard n the way in which ppl speak of my father....sounds like a great man...it's crazy because at times I'll do or say certain things and my mother would just say "Allan"......seems like am cut from the same fabric. All I can say is......father I miss u even though I never knew you, I love u even though we never met,I feel u even though we never touched.......at the end of it all I salute u cause your apart of the reason why am here #RIP

Hi Mikhael, and the Moxam Family,Cheer UP! death is never ANY ONE friend. It takes the Rich and Poor. The Tall,or short.I am just learning about Allan's disappearance on Saturday evening August.2nd,2014. On tb net. I never heard any thing about Allan since we left Sandy Bank School.I am stunned by this.He was about 1-2 Years my senior, at Sandy bank Primary. Quite shocking. `

Mikhael...just to let you know that the name MIKHAEL...HAS MANY MEANINGS:

--EL is "PART" of God's name.

--MIKHAEL means "MICHAEL" in RUSSIAN language and country.

--We learned that IN HEAVEN, there IS an ARCH- ANGEL, named MICHAEL. (very power-ful.)

So,YOUR NAME IS UNIQUE: (good for YOU)
