RIP, Jeremiah (Burro) Davis

I met an old school friend in the airport the other day, and it caused me to reflect on years gone by. Now looking through this thread, I noticed there's no rememberance, except for the opening dedication, about Burru.

It was many years ago that we got the news that Burru had disappeared on the boat with two other fishermen(all my friends). It was the worst of news; the kind that makes your stomach feel like it's sinking into your back, like a vacuum sucked everything out. We waited for days, with every hour seeming like a day in itself, without news. Then one day, as I recall, we got news that the two other gentlemen were picked up by a ship, and that Burru was gone.

Burru was my friend, perhaps a year younger, and one class(room) behind. He was one of our group of guys that, every sunday morning, we'd go swimming in Panty Hole, and beyond the reefs. I remember him to this day, with sadness, and hope his soul rests in peace.
