Sunday marked the official closing of the 2003 season for the Jamaica National Women’s Cricket League. This event was marked by the National Under 23 team competing against the National Over 23 team. The over 23 team batted first making 69 runs from their 30 overs. The under 23 team won by making 70 runs and losing 4 wickets.

The match was followed by an awards ceremony where our very own Treasure Girls dominated by taking home all three tournament trophies; first, for the Six-a-Side competition,

trophy1

second, for the League competition

trophy2

and lastly, for the Knock Out competition.

trophy3

This officially makes The Treasure Girls the number one women’s cricket team in Jamaica!!!

team

In addition, individual medals were given to Treasure Girls Patrice Cuff, Toni Greaves, Peta Gaye Hanson, Kerry Ann Campbell and Paulette Rowe for their representation of Jamaica on the Jamaica National Women’s Team playing in Caribbean Tournaments traveling to Grenada and St. Lucia.

Once again we wish to sincerely thank all of our sponsors including Lyric for donating a weekend at Lyric as a prize for the National Team’s Bingo fund raiser, Mar Blue Domicil, Sunset Resort, Cloggy’s Restaurant and Bar, Rainbow Tree Villa, Calabash House, The Wild Onion Restaurant, Parchment’s Hardware, Adelai James, Southern Supplies and Services (Miss Dell’s Supermarket), Lennon Wood Music and Things, Treasure Rock Variety Store, Ezra Morrison, Harry and Ethel Wiersma, Noel Blair, Michael Dolin and many others. Without their support we would not have accomplished what we have.

I personally would like to thank the management of Treasure Girls because without them working together this team would not be in existence; Darrin James, Treasurer, for keeping the money safe and using his vehicle for driving us to and from the matches, Sadie James, Secretary, for all the letters, correspondence and organization and for being a mother to all of us giving wonderful advice and encouragement, and last but certainly far from least, Silvan James, Manger/Coach, who is by far the best cricket coach the Treasure Girls could possibly hope for providing endless energy and enthusiasm for the team and the sport. Thank you all for the opportunity you have given me as PRO to be a part of this organization. It has been great fun!

I believe I speak for all representing the Treasure Girls Cricket Team when I say we are looking forward to another successful year in 2004!

P.S. If you are interested in helping to sponsor the team, please contact Rebecca at treasuretours@cwjamaica.com or Sadie at lenwoodmusic@yahoo.com.

New pictures...and a new slide show altogether.
Mair sent 10 wonderful pictures a few months ago and patiently waited for us to post them. Well, we finally did and in the process built a new slide show system that incorporates all of our visitor's pictures on one page.

You can view Mair's and everyone else's pictures in the new Slide Show or via the Photo Gallery.

Its finally here. The new updated map for Where to Stay that we've been working on for the past few months is finally ready for prime-time.

You can access it via the Where to Stay button at the top or right here.

Hopefully, it better represents the true scale of the area, although it is not 100% accurate.

It is also tied into a new database for our advertisers which will give you better, more accurate information than before. You can email us at webmaster@treasurebeach.net

If you spot any bugs, bad links, or just have comments, we'd love to hear about them.

Special thanks to Ms. Mead for providing the original map we used as a guide, to Walta-Bwoy for drawing the map you see on this site, and all our testers.

Enjoy!

The Inaugural 'JAZZ ON THE SOUTH COAST' FESTIVAL

In celebration of Jazz Month, the first Jazz Festival to hit Jamaica's South Coast takes place on the unsploit shores of Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. Friday 13th June 2003 brings Jazz lovers across Jamaica and overseas together at the resort dubbed 'A little piece of heaven', Sunset Resort.

The first ever Jazz Festival for this region brings together artists from Sonny Bradshaw's Jazz camp, the likes of Barbara Walker, Blues Singer, Byard Lancaster & The Philly Invasion from Philadelphia, U.S.A. Other artistes confirmed include local talents such as Jamaican Reggae Band (Blessed). Bradshaw is pleased to have fulfilled an ambition to bring Jazz to another part of Jamaica's coastline. 'It's the real first time there, having tried to make it happen and with the support of Jason Henzell and Kory South, the time is now right' Bradshaw said. The surrounding areas will be energised by the event.

The Jazz Festival host venue of Sunset Resort, owned by Kory South, is pleased to be involved in the first ever festival of it's kind on the South Coast.

'Jazz and the South Coast are a perfect synergy. Jazz and Treasure Beach go hand in hand - the beauty and tranquility we have here is a compliment to the mellow tones of Jazz. We are starting on what we hope will be the perfect arena to bring more Jazz stars to Jamaica's South Coast, enriching our Tourism market to a different audience' said South.

The event sponsors include Red Stripe, Smirnoff Ice, Parchment & Son, Kinkead Appliances, Naps Supercentre, Rock Villa, Jakes Hotel, Treasure Beach Hotel and Sunset Resort.

The event is scheduled for Friday 13th June at 7pm. at Sunset Villa. Admission: JA$200

Enjoy!
