Do you know...

What kind of tree is this?
What is the national significance of the tree?
And for some massive extra credit (or just blind luck), Where was this taken

We'll wait a few days to post your answers to give everyone a chance to guess.

Lignum vitae/ironwood, compleat with the
requisite white butterflies, an indelible
memory that makes thinking of Treasure Beach
and St.Elizabeth such a pleasure. It's Jamaica's
official flower. As to where? Everywhere, thankfully, unlike anywhere else on island.

What kind of Tree?
It is a blooming Lignum Vitae tree

National significance
It is Jamaica's National Flower, founded by Christopher Columbus

Where was this picture taken?
Not surprisingly, it could be taken anywhere, by the streetside, at Jakes or at anyone's property. That is the beauty of this flower.

Hey, I thought you were going to wait to give us a chance to guess!

I agree with the responses to the first 2 questions ... as for where it was taken, I'm going to say it's in your front yard, Miss Rebecca!

S.

That sure is a lignum vitae tree.I guess that was taken infront of Julie's bar right in that corner next to Winford Lewis' house.

To cool corner pub,
Sorry to have to tell you that the gum tree in front of Julie's bar, is dead. Someone dashed chemicals on it to try to get rid of the worms, but killed the whole tree instead.
My heart was broken to see it, it was such a lovely tree!

You were right S. The photo was taken of the tree in the yard where I live.
