In response to Miss Amy's most excellent request, here's a new ID-It for you to noodle on.
First, what it the name of the plant (local or 'official')?
Second, what bay is in the background?
Answer to be posted by the end of the week. Feel free to remind me if I should (ahem) happen to forget (ahem ahem) again.
Enjoy!

I dont know the answer to either question, but that is a great photo !
Wow....after all that, I have no idea what the name of this plant is...and I'm not even positive which Bay that is....but I'll take a guess....is it Billy's Bay?
I think they call it Agave or something like that, and my best guess is Calabash Bay.
I Believe it is Agave but I beleive it is in Billy's Bay.
I think agave looks more like aloe plants. Heck, I cant even find this tree in google! LoL
Is is the bay that the house Sparking Waters is on? No clue of what the treee is but I totally agree it's a beautiful photo.
So great to "hear" you guys again!
I haven't a clue what the flower is - I'm a bit of an ignoramus when it comes to that sort of thing - but it looks like it's in the grounds of Rainbow Point, Billy's Bay.
And the answers are...
The name of the plant is the Century Plant, locally known as the May Flower because it mainly blooms in May.
It was taken in Billy's Bay, more specifically on the grounds of Rainbow Tree.
Oh wow! Technically, Agave would have been almost correct then- same family. (I learned things!) Being that I don't live in the tropics, tell me, do aloe plants grow a big stalk like that too? That was pretty cool.
There are better people than me to answer your Q, but I have seen the big stalk from Aloe so I assume its the same thing.
Correction to above, the photo was taken on the grounds of Rainbow Point, not Rainbow Tree.
Yes, the aloe does have a beautiful yellow flower, however, it only grows about a foot above the main plant and is shaped much differently than the Century plant. If I see any in bloom, I will take a picture to show you.
Thanks for your responses everyone!

I know i'm late and also don't know the name of the tree, but i think the back ground picture is Billy's Bay, am i right rebecca?
ONE LOVE LLOYD. (UK)
You sure are Lloyd! It is indeed Billy's Bay. Always good to hear from you. Keep in touch.
Just a bit confused, haven't posted for awhile.
Where do you find "new posts" or new topics?
And while I'm here, hello everybody, hi Rebecca,
Love and hugs.
Received bad news today from Mass. that Lincoln Gordon has passed on.
Offerings of special sympathies and heartfelt love to those grieving the loss.
Looking for guidance, thanks a million.
