profile

Mrs. Idova James, known to us as Miss Dova, is another of our senior citizens. She was born to Ida Taylor and Charles Taylor at Bluntas, Treasure Beach but moved to live in Billy's Bay after she got married to Arthur James.

Her favourite dish is fish and bammy. She states that when she was growing up she did not have the opportunities that we as children have now. They were poor but they were contented and there was much more love among them. She attended the Sandy Bank Elementary School and she loved school.

She has seen a lot of changes in the community, chief among them is the kind of houses that are being built, electric light and running water. More tourists are coming to the community and more people are benefitting from this trade. Telephone service is now available in the community. She, however, feels that the water supply could be better and the roads need major repairs. There should be more job opportunities for the young people.

Her advice to young people is that they should try to get a good education, be more conscious about themselves and always lift their heads high. She encourages visitors to come visit a community where people are kind and loving, a violence free community and nice beaches.

Ah sta" Dova. You are still looking good. Keep up the good work, the writer is correct you have been in our community for a long time. Your haughty laugh could be heard from far-away. Little Darnie has not mention a lot of your attributes. I think you have made most of the communities cloths and uniforms and have feed a lot of us. I certainly am grateful for all that you have done for me.. You are still looking strong, and still smiling. Whos child is that. I have left Treasure Beach a long time ago.

Hi Miss Dova,

It is a pleasure going on web and seeing you on profile of the month. You look very good to begin with, and you are such a wonderful person. I know my family will second what I said, because you all get along well. I did not have a chance when I was there to see you, but I did have the pleasure of speaking with you on the telephone. Continue to be that wonderful person you are, and may God continue to bless you with health and strength.

Love Christine

Hi Ms. Idova:

Congratulations on being profiled for the month. Here's a gem of thought for you:

"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good."

Hey Ms,Dova I live in canada now I left Jamaica 11 years ago and will be visiting this summer. I have not been to treasure beach but will this summer. I hope to see you in your shop. You sort of look like my grandmother. Her parents were originally from Treasure Beach, the mullings. I love when the older generation give advice to the young-ons. Thats the best source of wisdom we will ever get. Thank you Ms, Dova.
