profile

Mrs. Myra Davis was born at Frenchman's Bay, Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth in 1945. She is the daughter of the late Edgerton Taylor and Ina Taylor.

Mrs. Davis was married to the late Rennie Davis. This union produced eleven children and she is the proud grandmother of twenty-one lovely grandchildren. She said that rearing so many children and sending them to school was a mixture of happiness and sadness because life was very rough. She said, however, she and her husband did not give up and she is happy they did not because at the end of the day it was all worth it. She said, "Loosing one of my daughters tragically (car accident) three years ago makes me feel like a part of me is missing.

Then the death of my husband and mother in 2003 made me feel like the path that I was travelling was gone. Through this all, I give thanks because everything God does is for a reason."

Mrs. Davis' favourite dish is curried goat and rice and her favourite color is blue. She said that as a young lady growing up Treasure Beach was very quiet. A lot of development has now taken place. She says she would like to see more industries developed in the area so that more people can become employed.

Hi Miss Myra. Congratulations! You are a special person. May Jehovah God continue to bless you. Here's a poem for you:

You Are Special

Your presence is a present to the world
You're unique and one of a kind
Your life can be what you want it to be
Take the days just one at a time

Count your blessings, not your troubles
You'll make it through whatever comes along
Within you are so many answers
Understand, have courage, be strong

Don't put limits on yourself
So many dreams are waiting to be realized
Decisions are too important to leave to chance
Reach for your peak, your goal, your prize

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying
The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets
Don't take things too seriously
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets

Remember that a little love goes a long way
Remember that a lot... goes forever
Remember that friendship is a wise investment
Life's treasures are people... together

Realize that it's never too late
Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way
Have health and hope and happiness
Take time to wish upon a star
And don't ever forget...
Even for a day...
How very special you are.

Dear Miss Myra:

We admire you so much. You have survived both good and bad times and are an inspiration to us. We have been your friends since 1985 when Endley Parchment first introduced us. We miss you and hope to see you in May. Love, Gwen and Trevor

To the most wonderful, woman, wife, mother, grandmother and friend in the world and last but not least, my HERO. Mama today you have made me what I am. You and dada instilled in us that education, values, respect, caring and sharing were the most valued attributes that would take us far and wide and the eleven of us are all proof of that. I admire you for your strength, courage, perseverance, patience and wisdom. The principles you have guided us with and the and the rewards of a sound education, we owe it all to you. God gave you to us, our mother for a special purpose. When times were hard, you did not give up, when times were good you were humble. My mom is unique in many shapes and form. Her strenth of character and her graciousness coupled with her discipline and nurturing. Mama I know you and dadda are proud of us, your children, because you have seen the benefits of the many nights and morning you have had to set the alarm clock 2 & 3 times to wake us up to study and to catch the bus. Mama you are a SUPER mom, I think you had the most uniform as a mother to wash and iron, and yes some of them were white, and they were neatly pressed and starched. I think you and dada also had the most tuition to pay. Because you both knew the value of education. Looking back it was even harder than it felt. Mama, Dadda, I dont know how you did it, but God through his divine mercies made it all possible. To the many friends and family who have added a message for my mama I say thank you. And to the many friends and family who have always been there for us I say thank you. Yes shirley I do remember the good times we shared and the holidays, you were one of the best neighbors we could have ever had. Mama, dada I will always love you both, and yes Sanny also would have loved to drop a line, because she knows how much of an adorable mother you are, and dada would have said, Myra, I should be on the profile of the month before you.(Smile).

Love always
Karen
